This is my next purchase, but before I take the plunge I would like to hear some feedback on this particular model, or any other black steel for that matter. How does the finish hold up? Any gripes? Or does everyone who owns one fn love it??:)
Thanks in advance.

I like my blackbird blacksteel. The finish doesn't scratch easily but it can chip if it gets banged. I have a small chip on one corner of the rider tab at 12 which nobody looking at the watch notices, but I see it. I still really like the watch, but not as much as my regular blackbird. Its my favorite of any of the blacksteel models that have been released.

Quite a few threads on blacksteel resilience. In my experience dings result in more of a 'reshaping' of the metal which causes the steel to show through because it is only a surface coating. The DLC is definitely more resilient than most surface coatings however.

I figured there might have been other threads, I was bored! ;)
I pretty much thought that it was more impervious to scratching but I just wanted a little reassurance before committing.
I would still buy it I think even if everyone said that it was soft and fragile. It looks badass and I can't wait to get it.
And Natesen I actually read your previous thread about your black steel and it was partially the reason I'm getting mine.

actually i love my blacksteel blackbird, it doesnt scratch easly and the blackbird is one of the few blacksteels whit part matte and part polish blacksteel which looks very cool

i have it for a 1 year and kept it in pristine condition so far, not a everyday user for me, but never scratched it or anyhting

the only big problem that is becoming more concerning is the fact that i love big watches and the 43.7mm of the BB BS wears smaller than the normal satin... dont really know why

if i ever sell it is because i have the normal brushed one and would trade for a larger blacksteel style watch

but its a fantastic watch i would sell all my watches for a 45/46mm version of this

if you dont mind the size its the perfect piece

1 year later check the clasp

Wow I guess that holds up good. No hairlines or anything! I've had my polished deployments for a month and a half not and they already show swirling, with is no biggie but that looks brand new!

i used a new POC 9300 for 2 days and already made a couple of hairlines in the clasp

these blacksteel clasps hold up much better imo

Hell yeah man sweet pics! The lume on these bad boys is killer. I don't know how I missed the boat on the BB when making my first three or even four purchases. I was a little worried about the smaller size but in my opinion the blackbird wears a lot bigger than its dimensions.
I'm soo excited to get the black steel, I can't remember the last time I was this pumped about a watch.
I'm a big fan of the Avenger line as well, I just let go my SA for a CA and money for the Black steel.
The SA is a beautiful watch but IMO a little too blingy. I also never thought I would say that :)
I feel that my collection is slowly refining itself over time, and changing for the better!

Man are you kidding me??? i had a Super Avenger also for a while and sold it to buy the chrono avenger, the main thing that made me sold the SA was the polished case, too blingy, so i went to ti CA, much cooler, the only thing that i miss the more elaborated dial of the SA against the CA.

incredible your story compared to mine :uplaugh: :uplaugh: :wowzers

Fantastic mattc

Now you have a problem deciding what to wear between those 2

Deployment or buckle? What number is yours?

Wearing my bb bs right now :) very discrete/sporty looking piece

I'm wearing mine as well. Mine is #1804, and I have it on the deployment buckle. I swapped out the OR for the DPIII, I think it adds to the stealthy overall appearance. I find it hard to wear anything else I have now I love this one so much.

I've had mine now for about a month. Love it! Agree that it wears a little small but I had an IWC Big Pilot prior so hard to say.
I'm about to get a winder. Does the automatic movement swing both ways, clockwise or counter clockwise? Thanks!
