Hi guys, i bought my SA on 20th jun and have been wearing it daily. Recently noticed the caseback had a couple of scratches and was wondering how the scratches came about. Any idea how to protect the caseback? Felt so sad my caseback n bracelet has scratches. The lugs and sides of the watch are still protected cos i couldnt bear to remove the plastic on them |

If you don't want scratches then lock it in a safe and never take it out. Scratches are a fact of life that you simply have to get used to. Hundreds of threads on cape cod and sunshine cloths for occasional polishing, but 5 minutes later they will be scratched again. Specifically on the caseback scratches can come from the clasp and / or bracelet. |

I think you should take off the plastic on the sides. You should wear the watch and make it 'shine'. Then you have a happy SA on your wrist. As for the bottom, I read that some people recommend leaving the 'Breitling Controlee' sticker on untill it falls off itself from wearing the watch. I did so too for my SA. but didn't do that for my older Seawolf. And I don't mind it having scratches on the back (but I do keep it in a watch box when not wearing it). |

This is going to sound a bit overly brunt perhaps, but keeping the plastic on a watch is akin to Howard Hughes' anti-germ protections. It also reminds me of a commercial that most of the U.S. used to laugh at - clear plastic covers for your sofas and chairs. Stainless Steel scratches. It also buffs out. +1. That's plain wrong. I'm a serious fusspot but you have to flick a mental switch, wear the watch, be careful with it by all means, but just accept the natural wear and tear as part of what makes it yours. It's the price of the pleasure of having it on your wrist most of the time. And you'll be astonished how many of the scratches can and will disappear at service time. |

I love the polished Pro II bracelet, but I was getting annoyed with the scratches. I put the SA on rubber or leather most of the time and honestly enjoy the different looks I can achieve with 1 watch and many straps. This might be obvious, but if you have a steel bracelet don't set the watch down face up (on the bracelet). Lay it on the non-crown side hopefully on something soft. This might save you some of the case back scratches. Can't imagine how the case back would get scratched on your wrist so it has to be when off the wrist. |

I keep a micro fiber cloth on the bathroom counter. That's where it sits on its side while I'm in the shower whether its a $9,000 or $900 watch. The rest of the time they are on the winders. I've never once set a watch down as Rplace described. It gives me shivers when I see a pic with the bracelet all bunched up and folded on itself. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Shivers for me too Sharkman...I can't think of how else to get scratches on a case back of a watch with a bracelet. My oldest watch has its share of bumps and bruises in the typical spots, but the back is still very nice. |

If you wear a ring, it's possible the ring will hit against the caseback when putting on, or taking off the watch. |

I only wear my watch and no ring The AD sized my watch to fit my wrist so 2 links were removed I wanted to wrap the watch round the black pillow n put it in the breitling leather case But now with 2 links gone the watch can't close at the clasp when I wrap it round the black pillow It isn't long enough |

Since I share Sharkman's abhorrence of the crumpled bracelet, I simply bung mine around a balled pair of socks. |
