This ones gonna be a landslide.. If you can pull off the SA, go for it.

Any combination recommendations? What do you mean by pull it off? Does the fact that the M1 is being discontinued add any desire to having the watch for anyone other than me? Is there something bad about the M1 that I do not know? I thought I did my research, but I suppose I could've not been thorough enough...

Get the new dial in SA. The black on black. Those are on back order currently, but looks amazing. Start off with rubber strap. That's the beauty behind Breitling, you can swap out between straps and bracelets (well only 1 bracelet in this case).

Absolutely the SA! Any combination is killer. Personally though..... only on a bracelet. Maybe a strap later, but bracelet first.

The SA is a large Automatic watch in stainless.. The M1 is smaller, titanium and quartz.

Quite frankly I think the M1 is 1/2 the watch of the SA.

Have you tried both of them on? You may find the SA too big.

I'm not a fan of either, but there is a reason why the M1 is being discontinued - it's just not a popular watch. The fact that it's quartz is a big negative for a lot of purists.

If you like the Super Avenger, but find that it wears just a tad too big. I would then recommend the Skyland Avenger.

Ok, so overwhelmingly the SA. Do you guys feel that the M1 is any less of a Breitling Watch. The truth is, I've discussed the M1 in a previous post, and an initial problem that I had with one that I thought I purchased last week. I've since sent it back to the AD and am having the battery replaced and the first full service done on it by Breitling, at their cost. The M1 arrived back at the AD today, and I called to tell them to let me think on it for a day or so, before they send it back. I've really had my heart set on the M1 for several months, but now I'm starting to second guess myself. After reading a couple of the posts to my questions, I'm concerned that owning and wearing an M1, will be equivalent to owning and driving a Ferrari, with an automatic transmission. I'm not trying to step on anyone's toes, but I feel I need all the input I can get on this matter, because this is a graduation gift from a deceased father via my widowed mother.

A bit of a highjacked thread (unintentional I think). Your entire post boils down to the last part. This is a family watch. Assuming you are as close to mom and pop as usual this is a no brainer. Fix that watch and wear it with pride (of family)! All mechanical things have their problems, and this is a BREITLING after all! If you want another model (SA) get it but I would totally cherish the family watch over anything I can go and purchase on demand.

After reading this that didn't sound the way I thought.

I mean all mechanical things have their problems. BUT this is a BREITLING with the highest standards in the industry. It will run as intended and you should wear it with pride.

Get the one that YOU like. Breitling doesnt make a bad watch. You are gonna get an overwhelming response for the SA because its a very popular model. The M1 wasnt as popular, likely because of titanium and [maybe] from it being a quartz. I say "maybe" because some models like the B-1 are absolute Breitling icons, and they are also quartz. Keep in mind that Breitling Superquartz are possibly the most accurate quartz watches on the planet. On the other hand, some people love the titanium for its looks, durability, and light weight.

Bottom line: buy the one you like more. The good news is that you cant make a bad decision as long as you get the one YOU like more.

I totally agree with RJRJRJ. The worst thing you can do is buy a watch just because someone else likes it. If someone says they like it and you happen like it too then that's great, but these watches are really personal things and you have to live with whatever you buy. If you buy something you are unsure about, I guarantee you will end up selling it on. I know because I've done it myself in the past...... more than once! Everything I buy now I am 100% certain that I will keep.

My Chrono Avenger with UTC. UTC makes it beat the SA with sheer coolness :-). Also looked at the M1+UTC first but the quartz in it made me choose this route.
