:?: :?: :?:

Reading a opinion about the way of taking care of automatic watches, comes up a recomendation about not to use it while doing some activities like swimming, baseball or similar activities where a fast arm movement is involve. Along with this opinion, came up a doubt regarding the use of an automatic Breitling (42 SOH). Can it be use while playing golf? and Can the mechanism suport this kind of activity without risking the mechanism?.

If you search for golf there are a few threads on this. In all likelihood it will be OK, but the forces exerted in a golf swing (especially one that hits ground rather than ball) can cause damage to the movement.

I would say that any automatic movement, should not be engaged at an activity which involves impact, which golf is included in.

I always take off my watch before I tee off. My father on the other hand wears his watch (Datejust) when playing. He's had it forever too. Still keeps on ticking away.

But he is a better ball striker than I am.

Then I guess is not a matter of life or death, then... So I would say, if you wear it ( try not to) while playing just don't miss hit..... Am I right?

I'm not a golfer, but simple solution would seem to be - take it off!

I wore my Zenith for years playing golf. Never had an issue. I haven't subjected any of my Breitlings to golf yet - too much traveling lately.
Automatic movements can be damaged by shock, so you're better off taking the watch off if you're worried.

Its too physical for my liking too. I would not wear any watch playing golf that I was not happy to throw away afterwards. Not that you would, but thats kind of the starting point for me. If it malfunctions during a round, then its no problem afterwards.

I guess the way to go is don't risk the watch and take It off.... Thanks to all opinions....
