Post subject: | Quick question. |
Hello, I have been on these boards quiet some time, reading over some of your posts and drooling on some of your posted pictures. Time has finally come for me to pull the trigger on purchasing my first Breitling. I have come across a unbelievable deal on a blue faced Navitimer World Stainless steel bracelet, but the manufactor date is 14th week of 2004. My question to you is, what are the MAIN differences (if any) I should be concerned with, buying a 9 year old WORLD watch (no warranties) compared to if I would spend the extra cash purchasing a brand spanking new with full warranty? Please help as I need guidance. My original choice was a Blue leather Blue faced Navitimer world with deployment clasp, but I believe the stainless steel bracelet to be more versatile and would go with a lot more dressier attire. Thank you all in advance for your inputs!. |

With it being that old, it should have been serviced a few times by now. I would want to see proof that it has been done. Most important is the complete overhaul witch should have been around the 5 year mark. Now that the watch is comming up on 10 you are probably going to be due for another depending on when the last one was done. Will prob cost you about $650 if you don't need to replace any parts. The good news is after you get it back from a complete overhaul it will look as good as the it did in 04. If it's a good enough deal and it's been taken care of you should be all set. Good luck |

That production date is fine for an early World, and I would only expect it to have had one service, ideally between 2009 and 2011. Without any service history then factor the cost of one into the price. You will also get a one year warranty with the service. The watch is essentially unchanged since it was released so there is no issue with that, if it's the one that you like then go for it. |

as a 9 year old watch, i would want to buy it at about 30% off new(not msrp but selling price), net of the needed/expected service of about $700 as roff said. my crosswind special cost me 780 to service without any extra parts but that was in NYC. just my .02. |
