I've read through the FAQ and searched the forum but haven't seen anything on the Transocean Day Date.

I love this watch and am in the process of trying to buy one but wanted to ask the experts here first as reviews of this watch anywhere are scarce, if not nonexistent.

1) Is this watch, by it's lack of reviews, generally frowned upon by the Breitling connoisseurs? Is the concensus that the $4000-$5000 price tag is too much?
2) Breitling's strength seem to be the chronograph. Can I expect the same quality in this watch as it does seem to be an "outlier" from it's typical design.
3) I am in Toronto. It appears that La Swiss is the only big Breitling dealer around. Are there any other locals who know of a better way of purchasing this watch? I thought there would honestly be more AD's around. Perhaps I'm not looking in the right place.

Forgive my "newness" if these questions seem ridiculous. I've been fascinated scrolling through some of the various discussions here. Cheers!

You aren't seeing many reviews because the watch is brand new - not really 'in the wild' yet. The watch uses a proven movement that has been around for decades so if you like it, go for it. In Toronto La Swiss dominates because it is owned by the Canadian distributor for Breitling (Grigoros). Each store is run separately so you can try and play one off against another. Not much point in buying from the US by the time you have been hit for import duty and HST.

That's good info. Thank you. Didn't realize it was so new. It just has an understated beauty to it that I really like. Are there any independent dealers around or is it pretty much La Swiss?

Nearest non La Swiss is Overgaard in Kitchener. However, they are buying stock from Grigoros so likely not as flexible on price.

Well I must admit, I'm surprised the Transocean pieces don't get a little more love around here!!

I finally got my first Breitling, the Transocean Day & Date, and I couldn't be happier...even though it seems like the red-headed stepchild of Breitlings! :) The pictures do make it look a little bigger on my wrists than it does in real life but I think it looks pretty good!!

It may not be the most popular among Breitling enthusiasts, but I love my red-headed stepchild! :)

The TransOcean 3-hand-date-but-not-day (I have one and love it) came out at the same time as the TO chronograph, which has been a huge hit, understandably. While the TO-3h is a really beautiful and refined watch, it's virtues are simplicity and elegance...less-is-more...and less-is-more rarely gets as much play as more-is-more. I like the day-date, but somewhat prefer its predecessor, the outgoing date. If you're not aware of it you might like to peruse it online before pulling the trigger. Either way...beautiful watch.

I like the TO DD a lot but ended up getting a Headwind (also day-date) instead.

No Read-headed step child for me. I think the watch is beautiful and do love it's elegance and simplicity.
Wear it in great health and please post more photo's.
Be safe, Frank.
