New to the forum and not a watch aficionado -- I'm a retired Naval Officer and a friend of mine who is retired from the Air Force and who is quite wealthy sold me these three watches from his collection of about 30. Says they're too small for him to read without his glasses and he's only buying oversized watches right now (which I think look ridiculous but haven't told him so:)).

Anyway, I'm not interested in keeping these and the first step is to figure out what they are, obviously, before I list them for sale. I have boxes but no receipts. He almost never wore these, they look pretty much new (no scratches, etc).

Thanks for any help provided!

Mark

Before I sell these I assume a buyer is going to want a certificate of authenticity or something like that -- is that generally right? I've never sold a high-end watch before.

If so, where can one obtain one?

There's no point in paying an AD for a piece of paper that says that they are real. If people know them then they will know that there are no good fakes of these models, if not then they will likely come to one of the forums and ask and they will be told that they are real.

Quick question about the Navitmer 92 -- when I want to wind it, I have to pull the crown out slightly, otherwise it will not budge.

I couldn't find any explanation for this in the manual. Is this something to keep water out of the watch?

There's three positions for the crown but the manual only seems to mention a function for the first position (position 1 -- winding) and position 3 -- time setting.

Am I missing something??

Thanks in advance --

Manual has generic text in it. Position 2 would be for the quick set date if your watch had it. The fact that you have to pull the crown out slightly to wind it is wrong, likely an issue with the engaging of the castle gear with the keyless works that would be addressed during servicing.
