Hi folks,

I can name myself an Omega-guy regarding to the many Omegas I have owned( Speedy Reduced, Seamaster 120 , De Ville quartz ) and own now ( 2531.80 Bond).My wifes also got my inspiration and now she wears a Constellation 1532 quartz.
Actually I have always loved the Breitling`s cases - teh design,the shape,the rounded crowns and pushers of the Chronomats and the noticeable bezel with the cuff destroyers.

So,wearing my SMP and looking for something different till now.I made some research of the demestic market/forums and I found 3 options:

But the guy won`t sell it probably.I am waiting for an answer from him actually.

This guy offers a trade,so I can try to trade my SMP which I am bored of.

The owner also requires a trade,we will see in next couple of days.

Anyway,as you saw - my intention is to trade my SMP or if it`s necessary - to sell it.First - I am slightly bored of the curved shapes and non so masculine design and from the make/brand overally.
Second - I can wear and love only 1 watch at the same time.I cannot change 2 or 3 watches during the week.It`s just not my style.I am monogamic :)

So,can you tell me if the Chronomats ( I like them a lot) have some weak points(I will get at least 10 years old watch).

Photos 2, 3 not working for me. Love the Longitude tho. It's a fantastic watch. The style has endured well and the movement is pretty bulletproof. Depending on the normal things like recent service history, its hard to go wrong with a Longitude.

I like the brushed Blackbird with arabics :) (all great pieces though).

As far as weak points - pieces that old would have needed a service so if they haven't had one recently (last 5-7 years) you may want to consider this in your purchase price and plan your finances for this cost. I have the that Blackbird (with blue dial), was serviced in 2012 and runs great - no issues.

The Chronomats a pretty tough watch. :lingsrock:

I assume your SMP is a centre sweep? If so, I get the feminine connection you mentioned. In that case, you may need to look closely at the crown and pusher shape on the Chronomat, if you have not already noticed it. IMO, its not the most unified in the overall watch design, but designed for a purpose. Would you consider a C Colt, C Superocean or the SA? Different watches of course, but so similar to the Chronomat in many ways, and better resolved overall in my mind. Just a thought, as this watch will be a constant companion. :wink:

They are all great! (the Chronomats, that is, not some other suggestion just made IMO. For instance, I've owned several Chrono Superoceans and while nice, simply not in the same class). A truly classic design without flaw and widely appreciated by a large majority here as evidenced that made it to the final 4 our our recent "Best Breitling" poll. I have the dark grey dial Longitude and a blue dial all steel Chronomat. Terrific watches. A really nice size at 40mm. Also not too thick. The awesome pilot bracelet. Just a terrific all around watch, dress or sport, with good wrist presence even though it isn't flying saucer sized.

Yes,it`s 2892A2 automatic.

Actually I like seveal Breitling models - Aerospace, Chronomats and Colt Chrono Auto.

Without a doubt great watches.
As mentioned, service cost to be considered if not done recently.
Should the second one, the two tone one, not come with gold rider tabs originally?

I noticed that two of the options were on strap, the other on bracelet. Does this matter to you? Breitling makes a great bracelet and they are painfully expensive to pick up individually after the purchase. All things equal, I like the Longitude. Sorry if I'm talking down at all, but since you are new to Breitling, you do know the Longitude has a hidden skeleton hour hand which can be adjusted out from under the standard hour hand for GMT use? It's really one of the cooler aspects of the watch. If it matters to you, check out or ask if the lume is still good. I owned and looked closely at the two-tone model in other finishes and both models I owned/looked at had lost their lume, or had a relatively weak tritium lume. I'd guess the Blackbird is the one most likely to retain full and strong lume, that's one of its design features. As a "one watch", I'd say Longitude, Blackbird, standard Chronomat. I'm also guessing your SMP is not two-tone. Is that an issue or do you want to try two-tone? Sorry for all the questions, they're the sort of things I ask myself in vetting a purchase.

I know about the GMT function.The picture was taken form a friend of mine and he decided to hide the hand because he doesn`t use it at all.

I'm certain the lume in the Longitude is not tritium. I had my dial replaced by a new old stock dial from BUSA. The lume was cad in spots but it was clearly from water damage. Which lead to a new movement.

Correct - post tritium era, and produced at a time when tritium use has to be declared on the dial anyway.

What about the Aerospace models?Are the crown gasket and the tube durable?
