Hello All.

First thing I’d like to say is thanks. I've learned a ton here, and enjoy this forum very much.

I’m looking to buy a new watch later this year, and I'm looking for some input.

My current collection is:
Breitling Seawolf Blue Dial - Daily Wear
Stowa Marine Original White Dial- Dress Occasions
Tissot PRC-200 - Weekend Beater
Swiss Army Alliance Chrono Silver Dial - Worn on occasion to work to switch up with the seawolf.

I'm looking for suggestions for my next watch... I love the pilot syle, but dont know if I want to go Vintage Pilot or New Pilot.

I like the Following:

Breitling Chronospace Auto
Pros:
Size - I like Big
Water resistance - 200m
Brand - Love the Breitling
Cons:
Price
Need to buy a winder

Tourby Big Pilot 45mm Center Seconds
Pros:
Size - I like Big
Hand wind movement - limited supply and beautiful
Price (< $2000 USD)
Cons:
Water resistance - Not much
Brand History - Little

Any other suggestions... I'd like to be under $4K USD... I like the Navi too, but its a bit small, World is an option, but a bit more $.

Thanks,

Joe

this watch looks way too much like the IWC big pilot. i dont know much about pilots watches or who can lay claim to this design first. but if you're asking opinions......then my opinion is that if you buy this its always going to look like an IWC knockoff

Well as much as I respect what mr Schlüter does at Tourby... One is a plain vanilla Unitas, in a case of which no one knows where or by whom it was manufactured and the other is a Swiss chronometer assembled by a reputable manufacturer from parts made by reputable suppliers in Switzerland. A bit apples and oranges if you ask me then.

If you really want a Navigationsuhr, I recommend you purchase from the houses that made them initially, Lange (GO), or IWC for the more expensive iterations, Stowa for a reasonably priced one and Laco for an even lower price. Caveat: the latter two may or may not represent a significant compromise when it comes to provenance and transparency in manufacture. China is never really too far for anything in the watch business, but Stowa (somewhat) openly uses parts from the Far East and Laco could hardly keep up the prices they have if they didn't.

Forgot to add, Sinn and Tutima might be places to check out as well when it comes to pilot chronographs

And maybe Steinhart?

As always on these, it really comes down to personal preference, and what you consider to be most important to you - is it price, or is it heritage? Is it WR, or is it limited production (albeit from a fairly small brand whereby limited edition won't mean too much), etc?

That said, I personally have to agree with Navi01 - the Tourby is a very generic Big Pilot "lookie-likey" (or sorts), so if the BP/retro pilot's watch is what you are after, then I'd say you may (at some point) find yourself wishing you'd saved up the extra cash and bought the BP. However, there's a world of difference in price between the Tourby and the BP, so the Chronospace Auto is almost a middle-way here.
