What is the best way to insure my lings and other jewlery against theft, loss and all other situations if I don't have home owners insurance. Is there some kind of policy I can get to do this separate from everything else.

jewelers mutual is ok, but chubb is far and away leaps and bounds better than jewelers mutual. i handle claims from them, state farm and chubb and its not even close how much better chubb is than the rest.

I had a heck of a time finding insurance once I moved to the UK. I finally found a place, but the coverage is awful. They basically only cover if the jewelry gets stolen off my body or out of a safe.

It appears that Jewelers Mutual only operates in US/Canada. However, I looked into Chubb (thanks to Fear) and they seem to operate in Europe. Does anyone know for certain if I can get Chubb insurance in the UK? I'll try giving them a call, but I'm not expecting anyone to answer on the weekend.

If you have homeowners insurance you can get a rider just like many do for an engagement ring.

Why's that FEAR?

how they pay out. lets say you have a 2.0 carat h vs2 diamond ring. hour home owners company or state farm replaces the diamond, but you have minimal control over what they replace it with, let say you have it insured for 25k, in case of loss, they call me, and tell me they want the CHEAPEST diamond that can pass for h vs2, no regard for cut, fluorescence, polish or symmetry, the may not even use a gia diamond if they can get away with it, they pay the store to get the cheapest one there is.. its crap.

you insure a diamond with chubb for 25k they give you 30! up to 20% over your insured amount, and they write you a check, instantly.
