Hello, My Breitling Colt Automatic A17350 needs repair and complete overhaul. I Gave it to Mayors jewelers and they offered to do everything in house for $380.00. I told them i did not want it done in house at Mayors and they sent it to Breitling who is now saying the price is 800.00 and that Mayors cannot do it. This costs seems a little ludacris since i can buy an a17350 online for close to that price. (their justification was the current cheapest breitling is $3500). Below i am attaching the document that they sent me. Does this price seem reasonable, and should it be considered and are there any alternatives? thank you for all of your help!

Edit: sorry i'm very bad at pictures can you see it with zoom or should i try to fix?

It seems to me the price Mayors quoted you was for just polishing and cleaning, and the BUSA quote was for everything the watch is in need of. I would send it out if it were me, IMO the watch new was more than that, and if you care for your watch than the price would justify itself.. If you don't think it needs a new sapphire crystal and hands, or a movement check up or new gaskets, than let Mayors do it.

For a point of reference, my AD is a Brietling authorized service center and they have my Steelfish that stopped working and should be getting the full service. I was told for them to do it the price was between $350 and $500. They said it would matter as far as how many and what parts they would have to replace. They are doing a cosmetic refurbish as well but I veto'd a new crystal as mine looked good and I didn't think it needed it.

BUSA would charge me $450-$700 for the same but I don't believe I would have any choice to recycle the crystal.

With them being certified and with a 1 year warranty, I opted for my AD's watchmaker.

Sounds right to me; I'd send it off to Breitling and have them make the repairs; it will come back looking brand spanking new. It will be worth the cost.

As for alternatives, some authorized dealers have Breitling certified repair techs on staff but I prefer to have the work done at BUSA.

Good luck.

The Breitling quote includes the replacement of the middle case and the crown which suggests damage that they deem serious enough to require replacement. No brainer for me, get it dealt with by Breitling.

Not too much more than the usual complete overhaul. Considering yours is kinda busted up and in need of parts. I'd say its not a bad deal, it will come back looking like the day you bought it with a year warranty.
