Currently I have a stainless Breitling B-1 that I am thinking of DLC treating.
Has anyone ever seen a B-1 that is DLC coated Would the unusual back cause a problem?
Would the "pushers" cause a problem. The main watch that seems to get a DLC coating is a Rolex
Stainless old GMT ll. This watch is a sealed oyster body and may be the reason. CAn anyone give me some guidance?

Second question. If it is indeed possible, can anyone recommend a reliable company to do this process? The prices are all over the map.

The biggest problem that you would face is Breitling's likely refusal to touch the watch afterwards - they aren't keen on owner modifications. Don't recall anyone DLCing their Breitling, likely because there aren't many models left that Breitling hasn't done the job on already

Not Likely.... They will not service it.... it says so right on the botom of the quote I just recieved.

That's what I implied. Breitling have been a little more flexible in recent years, but I suspect that DLC would be too much for them.

The watch is about 10 years old. My wife bought it for me when I earned my pilot's license.
Since there is no warranty issue, do I care if Breitling it too arrogant to fix their own watch. I assume that there are many people who would be delighted to work on the watch. Am I missing something?

I am sure that many watchmakers would work on it, but none of them have access to Breitling parts so you will end up with a watch that will become less and less a Breitling with each service. That may not always be noticeable but things like hands, crown, etc will become an issue (hands are designed to be single use so don't fit properly if reused).

If that's not an issue for you then go right ahead. The resale value will also be destroyed for the same reasons but again that may not be a factor for you.

In short? Don't do it. Would be a waste of a good Breitling, 10 years old or not.

It's a pilots watch after all, not a watch for creeping through the jungle in the dead of night or diving in shark infested waters where a glint of light off the polished surface would be unwelcome.

The furthest I would go would be for it to be brushed/satin finished.
