I bought last week a new super avanger , and discoverd it has a whole new packaging a hard carton box instead of the old bakelite box. Is this a sort of cost saving for Breitling ? Has anyone seen the same packaging already? |

Its been around for a while now. There are some topics about it if you search. Not sure why they did it other than the fact that they seem to be screwing everything up recently. |

It is kind of sh***y considering the money we spend and prices continue to go up. I get we are not buying for the packaging, but it makes a big statement when you raise prices and take stuff away. |

Yep, been mentioned here a few times, but it's just another example of Breitling ditching their own heritage and things that set them apart from other manufacturers..... just like the rider tabs. Rider tabs have been around for 30 years, and made a Breitling INSTANTLY recognisable. I'm not sure how long the Bakelite box has been around, but it's at least 25 years (and probably a lot more), and again as it was something that only Breitling used, it set them apart. It's such a shame to see these things go.

I was fortunate when I bought my new Seawolf a couple of weeks ago, that after mentoning my preference for the bakelite box, was offered one in place of the newer packaging
