Post subject:  Is Breitling's AR coating better than other companies?

I've been on the boards for a long time and I've read many thousands of posts. It seems to me that over the years I have seen very few threads talking about the AR coating rubbing off on Breitling watches. I have seen lots when it comes to Tag, Omega and many other brands. I used to own a Tag and a Sinn that had rub marks on the crystal but never on one of my Breitlings. So does Breitling do a better job on their AR coating or am I just missing the threads where people have been complaining? I thought if anyone would know, it would be you guys.

I've had many watches with AR coatings, and never had issues with any when it comes to general wear & tear. I find that the AR properties on Omega, TAG are just as good as Breitling.

Breitling's AR is very good IMO, but to say it's better or worse than others is fairly subjective. What I can say is that none of my watches with external AR have ever suffered any scratches at all..... but then I am fairly careful with my watches. I wear them daily but never do things like DIY with them on.

Breitling's AR has more of a blue tinge to it than some I've seen, but it is very good : I remember thinking my first SF didn't have any crystal in it when I picked it up! Most AR's have some kind of tinge to them - Lum-Tec's is very purple at certain angles, although I've always found Panerai's to be pretty colourless. I have also found some show water-marks and smudges more than others - Sinn being one of the worse offenders in that regard, certainly on my old UX.

Funny, I did exactly the same - opened up my old Colt in the box from the post and thought "I don't believe it, they didn't fit a crystal before despatch"!

Yes Breitling AR is one if the best. Better than the PO for example. You can still scratch it though. Not very hard to do so.
