What are the do's and don'ts regarding swimming with your watch.
I've just bought a used 2006 navitimer a23322, going Vegas in a few weeks and wanted to be rocking my new watch at the pool parties!!
Is it a big no no? Should I get Breitling to water test it first?
Just your opinions please.
Thanks

Pool parties are no no with a Navitimer.

I usually feel safe in water with my Chrono Superocean with pushers screwed down too - a yearly WR checkup and every 2 to 5 years sealing gasket replacement is advisable, even if WR is intact. It depends on your swimming habits too. With my Chrono Cockpit (100 m WR with non-screwdown-pushers) I kinda feel not so safe but occasionally use this watch for swimming too, WR checkup and sealing gasket replacement is inevitable too. I wouldn't use a 3 atm WR watch with not-screwdown crown for swimming. I wonder why Breitling uses sometimes a non-screwdown-crown for 10 atm watches too (e. g. Galactic 32, TOC).
Hope this helps.
Robert

There's an article on the site that translates static water pressure ratings to real world use - http://www.breitlingsource.com/articles ... ance.shtml

If it wasnt designed to go in the water, i wouldnt take it there. No watch of mine enters the water unless its rated to a least 100 meters.

There is no way I would take my Navi swimming.
I even have a problem to put it under a very gentle tap when cleaning it.

The Navi is absolutely, positively and completely NOT a watch that should EVER be immersed in water. Just the thought of it sends chills down my spine. 30 meters W/R is another way of saying, "No water!"

I'll wear it in the rain, that's about it.

The closest I would take a Navitimer to water would be a quick wipe with a damp cloth.

You need something that has reasonable WR, I will have no issues with this BB as it's 300M WR.

Ahh, that's annoying! I thought 30m meant I could dive to 30m!! Not that I would or even could!!
I wasn't planning on going swimming with it, was just thinking maybe I might get pushed in the pool or something by my pals.

30m WR means it's been tested at the equivalent pressure at 30m. Typically manufacturers recommend 30m tested watches for splashing but not swimming or any kind of submersion. 50m for swimming. 100m for snorkeling. 200m for diving.

Key missing word - static water pressure. Any movement of water relative to watch adds to the pressure.
