Hi Guys, I have not been here in a while. i bought my LE Superocean Heritage back in 2010 or 2011...still love it, everyday watch for me. I hope someone is around to answer rather promptly. For several years I have wanted a Breitling with an alarm. i believe i will use this feature and a dualtime feature. i also like being a bit...different. For instance, usually donlt see alot of people with my SOH. Also, i donlt care what watch you own, or wear, I just love watches. I also noticed my tastes are getting a bit more "refined" but don;t take that the wrong way, by that I mean i have been looking a more traditional dials and more classical designs. Anyway, this purchase is coming down to price. I love the looks of a Montbrillant, Transocean, and Navi World but all up there for right now. Likewise a Ulysse Nardin dualtime or marine also. I have been thinking of the Chronospace for a while, and yes, I realize both of these choices are quartz. The saving grace to that is there is a high end store in my area that can change out a battery should it go dead instead of me having to send it in. Not sure about the BS. My wrist can pull off a chronospace, the SOH is already 46mm and the Cronospace is 48mm. My dilemma is the avenger blacksteel LE. My son is young (28) and a master diver and I am thinking it is something i can pass down to him though I know there are plenty of dive watches he could choose from at some point in his life. Anyway, I just have a thing about getting watched you dont see everyday like the LE, but the chronospace is also on a mesh which i enjoy with my SOH. I guess question is: Chronospace because of all the functions it has...it is white dial I believe. And to me i like this idea, becasue the SOH is a dark dial so it would be a change up. Or, the LE avenger because of being able to use the chron underwater and it is LE. Thoughts? Thanks...Love the Montbrillant (and it is limited) but the price? and servicing the 01? ... |

If you really want an alarm that is a breitling, I think the only option you have is the quartz, correct? |

Hi I owned a Chronospace for a while. The alarm is LOUD! Much moreso than on my B1. I have a Superocean Heri Chrono and my wife has forbidden me to sell it... I sold mine only because it was obvious due to its size, and my mad obsession with wearing my watches to work, that I thought it would die a nasty death. I am currently trying to convince myself I really dislike the Blacksteel version..... ![]() Great watch, easy to alter its look with different straps. ![]() ![]() Davey |

Davey, After years of waiting my wife was with me when she gave the ok for my SOH...she loved it. i have the Limited edition with the green dial and its not going anywhere. For me, it was to be a lifetime watch. She actually gave the ok for my second becasue she wants each one of our sons to have one. Your photo of the chronospace is the one i am looking at...I know it's not a very popular watch, I don't think any quartz is here, and I don;t love it the way I do my SOH but I think the functions are handy...unless they are a giant pain to use. I have been seriously looking at the UN Dual Time 42 but again, more than i would rather spend without having some serious remorse. |

The underwater chrono activation isn't going to be a big deal to your son, since the watch will likely be his tertiary back-up (main dive computer, back-up computer, watch). Get the watch that you like. The watch will be precious to your son, because it was yours and you liked it, not because of its features or rarity. [Woo! First post! ![]() |

Thanks doodle that may be pretty accurate Roff... Any advice here? Any thoughts regarding the watches as a whole? I have been reading u must send in the 01 movement at the 2 year point to keep warranty valid. By chance any familiarity with a UN. I am now considering a maxi marine 2 dial chronograph ( not diver) |

Johnhw wrote: Roff... Any advice here? I rarely comment on x vs. y - it's personal choice. No one should buy a watch because I (or anyone else) say that they prefer it - I'm not going to be wearing it. The 01 movement in the Montbrillant will cost more to maintain because it's in house - about 40 - 50% more than 'normal' chrono servicing should be expected. You do get the 5 year warranty, but it will need the gasket check to maintain that. UN make some nice pieces, not in house in their 'mainstream' watches, and you need to negotiate a discount to get value, but I like some of the designs a lot (although again, this is your choice) and they are slightly less common. |

Riff I understand, had seen some of your other comments regarding UN in other threads but I just needed a bit more overall knowledge as I can see purchasing other makers in the future However costs regarding keeping a 01 are something to consider in my income bracket Overall...if taken care of the chronospace is long lasting as well? |

Johnhw wrote: Overall...if taken care of the chronospace is long lasting as well? Of course, it's the same quality as any other Breitling. No quartz is going to last as long as a mechanical should - a well looked after mechanical watch can last literally hundreds of years, but Breitling has committed to supporting their quartz pieces for at least 20 years beyond the time when they stop using a specific movement. |
