Hi

I'd like to purchase a Transocean Chronograph, but I'm concerned that the glass will scratch easily, as it's not recessed into the bezel. Has anyone got any experience with this watch? How is your glass holding up?

I wear Chrono Colt as my everyday watch (never take it off, even in the sauna or in bed) and have had it for 7 years. It has a lot of small dents and scratches on the bezel, but no scratches on the glass because the bezel is raised.

Breitling crystals are made of sapphire - second hardest material after diamond, it's not going to scratch without a huge amount of effort.

The anti-reflective coating is on the outside and inside of the crystal and the outer coating is likely to scratch over time, but that's not a huge issue for the vast majority of owners, unless it's really bad you won't notice it unless you go out of your way to look for it.

Just over a year and mine is also holding out fine.
Having said that, it is enjoying a very easy life as it's far from a daily beater, more like a Sunday watch and even then more like the odd Sunday :-)

Mine is also held in reserve. I don't wear it very much, although it is my favorite Breitling. I'm not at all concerned about the crystal, though.

1.5 years on mine no issues. Aerospace AR coating as a couple of scratches, but are hard to see. I've had that aerospace since 98.

Had my SA 7 months now and I wear it every day to work in a restaurant and the crystal is spotless.
