Post subject:  Question about Superocean use in pools and showers

I bought a Superocean 42 as i like a watch that i can wear whatever i am up to, but i have read various posts about not showering with it on as it can get steamed up.......is this true?

Also some dont like to play golf with their watches as it can shock the movement. This got me thinking about wearing my watch when i am messing around with the kids at aquaparks in summer, would diving from 5 meters or shooting down slides be a problem? I owned a Rado Original for a few years and gave that watch a beating, it was ugly as hell, but even with a 100m rating it survived everything i put it through without a problem.

Any advice appreciated thanks, love my watch, whatever the traditional blingers might say about the new models, the brand is winning new customers and i am starting to appreciate the bling classics that i normally would not give a second glance. :lingsrock:

It's rated at 1,500m so it will be fine from a water resistance standpoint, however steam can be problematic for gaskets in any watch. Saunas are more of an issue than showers, but unless you desperately need to know the time in the shower it is always safer to take it off. Waterparks are fine and I doubt that you would get up enough speed from a 5m diving board for that to be an issue.

Swimming and messing around in pools and the sea is what the SO was designed for, so provided the crown is screwed in, your watch shouldn't come I any harm. Just make sure you rinse it off with fresh water after use as salt in the sea and chlorine in pools can reduce the life of the gaskets etc. Personally I avoid taking my watches into showers or hot tubs as heat and sudden extreme changes of temperature arent ideal for watches, but loads of people do, so it can't be that bad. Just expect quicker service intervals.

Just make sure you get the gaskets/WR checked every couple of years if you are using your watch in the conditions described above.

EDIT - as per usual Roff beat me to it.
