Post subject: | Breitling Twin Sixty 2 (thinking about buying) |
Hi All... I am new to the Breitling page. I used to own a Steelfish and am currently deciding / about to finalize the purchase of a pre-owned Twin Sixty 2. Pricing is roughly $3,100 (it has full papers) and trading in an old Raymond Weil - Tango. Is this a good deal? I would appreciate any advice from the community here. I truly like the look of the Navitimers and think this is a great entry time piece. Please let me know your feedback. I have a picture of it but unsure of how to post it on here? Thanks. David |

Welcome to the Forum and back to the fold. ![]() You are coming from a Centre Second (Tango) and going to a Chronograph (T60). Sounds fine to me, but I am not sure if the change over is a good deal or not. I assume you are in the US or North America, so I will leave it to those closer to home to tell you about price/change over. If it has all the authentication, then thats a great start. I have no idea how much your RW is worth but assume they are trading it for $500 - 750, maybe. What condition to you think the Twin Sixty 2 is in? 100%, 90, 80? The case is a slightly different shape to a normal Navi but its the Italic numerals that add a real point of difference to the Navi style. Nice. |

Jim, Thanks for the note back. The Tango retails at $1,400 usd... Originally I paid $850 (roughly) new for it about 4 years ago. That being said, I am okay with letting it go @ $400 trade in to own a Breitling. As far as condition of the watch I would say 90%... but I am not sure how to measure this? Any feedback? I do have a great picture of it but am not sure how to post it? Any help with that? Thanks - David. |

I don't generally do pricing advice and that model doesn't come up too often for comparables, but that seems very high. |

Roffensian - thanks for the reply. Any idea, or direction on how best to have this evaluated? |

FAQs suggest completed auctions on eBay or dealer asking prices on Chrono24, but as I said this is not a model that comes up very often. However, this is a very recent market valuation - http://www.ebay.com/itm/Breitling-Navit ... 27cf8e6ecb |

Roffensian - thanks for the data. I am going to go back to the drawing board and see if I can negotiate further. Or find a new / different Breitling to purchase. |

I agree with Roff. Owning a couple examples of the Navi Twin Sixty 2, I'd say this price is a bit high given the current market. I think you are spot on at renegotiation. I'd say that the $2700 US range would be fair. Oh, and if this one has not been serviced by Breitling recently, you'll eventually have to consider a full once over, as it has also been my experience with this model that the lubricants can become a bit thick and mech can often suffer from the situation. |

That Twin Sixty is a very nice piece. I like it and the Montbrillant Eclipse although the Eclipse has the added moonphase complication. Both very nice though and the Eclipse will be added to my collection one day ![]() Difficult to discuss the value of the Twin Sixty 2 with so few trading. One deal could be crazy low and the next just a few months later could easily fetch a few hundreds bucks more. The range can be quite big even on more common models. Is the dealer asking for 3100 plus your RW as trade or 2700 plus your RW as trade valued at 400? If it is the former than perhaps a bit high. If it is the second (2700 plus your RW = 3100 total) than perhaps a little high but doable especially if you really like the design of the Twin Sixty 2 and don't particularly care about your RW. Another option you could try is all cash for the Twin Sixty and push for an all cash discount nd try to sell your RW if you think you can get 400+ for it on he used market. |

would say anything above 2.5k & no trade ins would be too high. |

we had a very nice blue twin sixty for sale hers on the forum, $1,700 - and it too ages to sell, the watch that Roff linked to comes from one of the few AAA+ sellers, who normally achieves rather high prices; most sell around or a bit above 2k - as I'm always hunting for that next vintage grail, I happen to see quite a lot of auctions .... ![]() |

I would not give the blue one a second look but I'd be all over the silver one. Well maybe it's just my naive mind ![]() |

So if I get it down to 2500 or 2700 from a known dealer (Howard Frum in Chicago) thoughts? |
