hi,

new here, but have been following for a while! cool stuff on this forum!

slippery slope, i know... but here goes...

we're all here because we love watches and especially breitling watches. HOWEVER...

now for something completely different, as monthy pytons would have said!

long story short:
in 2008, after 20 years in aviation, i thought it was time to treat me to a REAL watch and i got myself what i thought (and still think) is the iconic breitling model; a navitimer world. black dial, steel bracelet... THE WATCH!

of course (!?!) the wife and kids did not like the "bling" factor... who cares! i love it and have worn it every day, except when doing tricky things that could hurt her...

now recently, because my NW needs service, i decided to please the wife and kids by... getting myself another breitling!

because i wanted something different (some people on this forum seem to think the NW is a "sports watch" [i don't, and think this is the ultimate classy watch, with the cosmonaute], but i digress) , i decided for an avenger seawolf, yellow (emblematic colour) dial, diver pro II black strap... talk about two VERY different watches!

but, although i had my mind set on the avenger seawolf for a while, i did have a look at the whole breitling collection, just out of curiosity...

and this is where i may become unpopular here - but without judging anybody! - i realised that there are breitling models i would rather not been seen dead wearing...

i love a lot of the breitling range, but there are some i really think are ugly! i know... everybody is different, but still...

which one would not want to wear, even it it was offered to you?

cheers,
pg

How anyone can say "any Bentley" when the range includes pieces like the Complications 19 and 29 is beyond me, they aren't 'Bentleyish' in any way.

Would never wear an SA - to me the Avenger / Avenger Skyland has all of the appeal and none of the excess. Would also never wear anything with diamonds or the hideous original World (the ine with four dials). Oh and the coloured rubber stuff.

That's all

Not feeling judged, just stirring the pot a bit for the sake of a good debate. I have a stereotypical Bentley and a non-stereotypical one.

Maybe I generalised too much, I just feel that brand associated stuff seems a bit naff. I could never wear a BMW, Porsche, Ferrari watch/jacket/shirt or any other branded accessory. That said, I think the square Bentleys are particularly dire. But each to their own....

ok what the heck for the sake of debate im in.

to me the world, SA and b4b motors T, 6.75, flying B, motors are totally out of question for me. I have owned both the motors t and SA in the past. for me the decision is easy. its nothing to do with looks and everything to do with fit. these watches are just too big for me to pull off. all of these are great watches. but most people that wear them will tend to have some lug hangover making it look too big for their wrist.

probably would never own a chronomat 01 LE. although the bezel font has grown on me I just like the older EVO styling a bit better.

Diamonds any thing with diamonds although I have seen some classy ones around here.

It may be the in your face factor because I am not fond of any gold bracelet models either but gold on a croco, now that's a different matter!

:yeahthat - I agree

Plus the new Superocean does nothing for me. I still like the classic SO from late 90s up to the Steelfish. SOH, I love, but the new SO, I don't.
