Post subject:  Looking at Buying a Breitling for my Father. Please Help!

Hey Guys,

I've been looking at buying a Breitling for my father for a long time now. I'm at a point in my life where I have a great job, and its time to pay my father back for all he's done for me. I bought a Breitling Super Avenger a few months ago, and my dad always asks to borrow it! :lingsrock:

He really loves the look of the Navitimer / Montbrillant.

I was looking at this watch:

http://www.jomashop.com/breitling-mens- ... a24ss.html

Now I already know the AD vs Grey market debate. I purchased my Super Avenger from Amazon and I've been 100% satisfied.

I just want a little backround info on this ling. From what I understand this is a 47mm Legende Limited Edition version. It was hard to find more info about it. Just wanted to clarify before I pull the trigger.

Appreciate the input!

Can't wait to see the smile on my dads face!

Just one thing to consider...is he gonna ever want to wear it swimming or at beach? Cause all NAVIs are not really water resistant enough. Other than that, I think you're a great son for doing something nice like that for your dad. I don't know much about that model, but I'm sure he'd love it.

Thanks for the praise guys. Im only 22, but things are going really well. I have my father to thank mostly for the job so I owe it to him. He understands that its not a swimming watch. He has a tag thats his everyday watch

Very nice gesture. One other thing to consider is this watch has a fixed bracelet, so it cannot be swapped out for leather or anything else.

Great looking watch, but fixed bracelet like natesen said. Check out the navi world. Great all around watch besides not being very water resistant.

I casually was looking at breitlings online with my father and he mentioned how he loved this one. He prefers a braclet over leather strap as well.

From what ive researched it seems this particular model is a numbered l/e

For exactly that reason I'd be considering something else.
Looks like you need a big size watch so I'd be looking at the Navitimer World.
At 46mm it should fit the need for size.
Get it on a bracelet as a start and later you will have a good excuse to get your father another present like a nice croco strap on deployant.
They come in different colors too, so you can continue spoiling your father for some years to come ;-)

Maybe show your father some other Breitling models to see if he might love them too? lol. Sounds like the folks here are not so keen on the fixed bracelet design. My only concern with that is if for any reason your dad damages the bracelet somehow one day... he would be forced to buy another bracelet, as it could not be worn on a strap even if he wanted to.

As for the limited edition factor...it won't help much by way of keeping its value...I don't think even they made only 5 of these, it would help the watch retain its value or exclusivity over a non limited edition standard Rolex Sub.

I appreciate the concern guys, I tried to convince my dad on the navi world and he prefered the Monbrilliant despite the integrated bracelt design. The red accents in the face really make the watch for him

Yep, if that's what he really likes, get it and make him happy.
