I first noticed breitling after a good friend mine moved back to town with his silver navitimer world. I was instantly infatuated with that watch. The problem was that we work together, I didn't want to roll in to work with the same exact watch. Instead I went and bought a white Monty, as it has a lot of the same characteristics as the world. I loved it, but the feeling faded pretty fast. He was recently vacationing in Mexico and his watch was stollen. When he got back to the states he placed a claim and replaced it with the black world. I was then able to unload my Monty and get the silver world, the ling that started this whole love affair. After several months of owning my new ling I am still as in love with it as the day I bought it. I find my self staring at the dial and not wanting to take it off. I was wondering if some of you guys here that have been collecting for a while have a watch in your collection that you are still infatuated with.

I bet that after you have stared at the dial, once you have looked away you actually don't recall what time it showed

I know exactly what you are talking about. Although the watch that first got me interested in Breitling was a Chronomat with Roman numerals, ironically it is one watch that I have never owned. As you will see from my signature I have owned one or two over the years and the B-1 is the one I always come back to as it was the first model I owned.

I have only one Breitling at the moment, the Emergency Mission. It covers a number of my Breitling requirements straight away. It's from the Professional Range, it's an Emergency, houses the 78 movement of the Chrono Avenger M-1 so I have the sports watch look of the Aeromarine Range and has a bit more water resistance than its titanium sibling so I can wear it when sailing without being too up tight about damaging it. It also has great wrist presence.

Having said all that, I sold one of my B-1's to a guy who had a silver dialed World. He let me try it on and....well.....I know exactly why you are still infatuated.

For me I don't have a modern Breitling piece yet as I've started off with collecting vintage B pieces. But the two that I have cannot be separated from me. Of course though like a classic car I only bring them out sparingly.

Having said that, I will probably say my GMT IIc is currently my favorite of the bunch yet. I just cannot get bored of that watch.

I'm still debating on which modern Breitling I should pick up next. I have to even out the infatuation. My Rolex is taking all the attention.

The only way I would ever part with my world is for the same watch with a inhouse movement. I'm sure it is not to far away as they already have one with the GMT function. I just hope that when it does happen they don't change up the dial too much. And yes after staring at the dial most of the time I have no clue what time it actually was.

Thanks! Yes, it's 10 years old, but still looks good to me. :lingsrock:

My TT Chronomat Vitesse bought in '99 is still my favorite. It also the most comfortable.

I still find my self grabbing my iphone out of my pocket to check the time. I guess most people think of a watch as jewlery and not a instrument to tell time.
