The car wax thread got me thinking that car care products are likely gentler on my watch than dish soap which I think is too harsh to use on my car.

What do you all use to wash your watches?

I use Veraet for all my watches. It is fantastic!

Get the brush and the blue microfiber cloths.

Never wash. Only clean with Musuem grade polish and then only sparingly. Dry clean by cloth only and elbow power. Not sure I really trust the long term effects of car care products.

Leather straps are a little different, as they sometimes need a little TLC with cleaners, but otherwise I stay clear of any chemicals, etc as much as possible.

Soft toothbrush, luke warm water and regular ole bar soap. Works great and CHEAP! Polish it every so often with Cape Cod clothes.

Regarding my croc strap that's in need of a good cleaning, the jury is still out.

I use my electric tooth brush with a very worn out head and some toothpaste. I have not used this method on my Breitlings but took care of my Tag watches in this manner. I use the tooth brush on the inside of the braclet to clean between the links. Then rinse under a stream of water with the electric brush still on. I use a micro fiber cloth to dry. I am intrigued by the museum polish used by others.

You shouldn't use toothpaste - waaaaaaay too abrasive.

Denture toothpaste is totally non abrasive and may work.I reccommend for brushing dentures Joy liquid which is totally non abrasive and antibacterial which may be good for the back of the case which contacts your skin. For my watches I use the same cloths that are used to clean acrylic eyeglass lenses, they are very mild and are available very reasonably if not free at any eyeglass center if you ask.

I like the eyeglass cleaning cloths as recommended by Rick.

Dish soap is fine. The logic of not using dish soap on your Breitling because you wouldn't use it on your vehicle is absurd. Your vehicle has clear coat and paint. Your Breitling is raw metal. Big difference there.

Regarding leather, obviously don't use dish soap...matter of fact, I wouldn't use water. I'd use some of those wipes you can buy with the leather conditioner in them for your car interior. I prefer the non-shine look, but to each their own.

Regarding gold, well that's another ball game.

Even on the crystal? I feel that some of those could be hit or miss, and could potentially damage the AR coating. On SS, I agree. Windex on SS works wonders for getting rid of smudges, if that's all you need to do. For real dirt and grime, a soft brush and some dish soap with warm water works wonders.

For leather and rubber straps. It's fantastic on my rubber straps.
