I don't think you'll see that happen. :)

Why the big secret???

because for many watch collecting is a private issue.

I have never posted a full SOTC, neither here nor on any other site, though I am a lot less "private" than Roff. it is a very personal decision which watches you decide to share on a forum and in which context - and Roff did share some of his collection, sharkman has posted many if not all of his watches ?

this attempt at "pressure" seems in quite questionable taste.

I used to share pretty much every new purchase with the forum, but over the last year or so I've ended up taking a bit more of a leaf out of Roff's book - not for any specific reason at the time, but I've actually found I like keeping a few pieces to myself. I only ever buy watches for myself anyway, so not posting everything is just an extension of that I guess.

That said, I do and will continue to share my Breitling purchases with the forum...... the only thing is, I've not bought a new Breitling in a heck of a long time. So my current Breitling collection stands at a mere four - a black dial SA (bracelet), a silver dial Navi World (bracelet), a black dial Bentley Motors (bracelet), and a silver dial Bentley 6.75 (black croco with deployant). However, as soon as Breitling bring out an in-house Navi World (or any other in-house Navi in the 46mm range) I will be selling as many of those four as it takes to buy the new one as I much prefer quality over quantity these days.

Thks for the share Driver8 :lingsrock: My request for u guys to share yr collections wasn't solely just on Breitling pieces but also any other brands that u have. I guess many like to know what kind of watches "people more in the know" tend to like and keep. I didn't expect that some might take such things to be very personal since we are all in the forum to share. Therefore yr privacy is much respected.

Perharps I should have rephrased my subject to, "what watches do our moderators like" , coz the fact that u like them doesn't mean that u own them :D hope that it's a more non-personal request that Roff is more willing to share? No worries if u are still not comfortable with that... :nana:

In terms of my collection my post from several years ago still stands - viewtopic.php?f=1&t=21064&p=156633#p156633, and there are similar posts from earlier on. I don't feel that inhibits my willingness or ability to share knowledge or opinions on Breitlings - I have a hard time believing that anyone would feel that I don't share enough here!

In terms of which watches I like, just read my posts in the General Watch section. Heck, a quick read of the single SIHH post reveals quite a bit about my thoughts on the new releases. Seemed a safe assumption that the thread was referring to Breitlings as it was posted in the Breitling section.

No pressure, it was a honest question. I'm new to collecting. Just wondering, sorry if I offended you.

No problems at all as far as I'm concerned - there was no offense taken on my part at all.

If I recall correctly, at one point you possessed more than one Steelfish.

All gone?

Cheers!

I would've been if the dial appealed to me a bit more. The globe is just too prominent and I don't like the way date window cuts into it either. A few minor changes and it would've been a no brainer. As it is it's too much money to spend on something I'm not 100% sold on. I'll hang on for an in-house Navi World (if one ever comes along!).

Yep. I've had a few Breitlings over the years - no where near as many as some of our members, but a few - but they've all gone except for the four above. I've had a Chronomat, a Superocean, 3 SOSF's, a couple of Navi Worlds, a couple of SA's, a B1, and a Bentley Le Mans in addition to the four I still have. I'm not so much of a flipper these days, but the four I have will definitely go when an in-house model I want comes along..... and that'll be a keeper.
