Good afternoon!

Some of you may have noticed I recently purchased a used Emergency in "new" condition. History of the watch is that the buyer I bought from purchased from his friend who bought it in the Caribbean during some visit in 2009! There is no substantial paperwork and I am not sure who the watch is registered to. Anyway, the watch is claimed to have been worn no more than 8 times. The seller I purchased it from then faced problems shipping the watch to Hong Kong so I had it sent to West Palm beach in Florida to my family which is where the watch is now!

Few things I want to have done and not sure what is the best course of action:

1) Check history of watch. I have the serial number
2) First service. Breitling tell me it will be free and will be sent to Grenchen in Switzerland. Expect it to be there 4 weeks and come back looking new.
3) Transfer ownership to my name. Can Breitling do this? What documents required? Is it true they need a copy of my pilots license?
4) Change dial colour at the time of service. Is this possible and anyone have a rough idea as to how much?! At the moment the dial is black, I would really like to go for blue.

That's about it for now. Hope I can have the finished product in a couple of months from now. Not going to rush... In the meantime, bought a new Aerospace to keep me busy. : )

1. Not sure what you are looking for in terms of history or wherr it would come from.

2. 4 weeks seems quick, but if that is what they said the no problem.

3. Any AD can provide the form that you need to sign. They don't need to se anything.

4. It's a bad idea. Much cheaper to sell and buy the one that you want. Dial changs are going to be in the $500 -$700 range plus servicing. In your case the service will be free but they will charge you for everything else.

I'm in Qatar right now and when I asked at the service center ref change of ownership. The person in charge because slightly uncomfortable and told me I must have a purchase invoice or something similar.

He also told me the dial change is roughly around $200. I found that amount slightly optimistic hence asking here! If it is indeed $600 then I will stick with black!

I called BreitlingUSA and asked about their warranty transfer policy. I was told that the warranty if not a grey market watch follows the serial number. Just like some post prior to this one, 4 weeks seems too short. I was told for the B01 2 year check, 6-8 weeks was more normal.

Never heard of a need for a receipt for the agreement. It's in Breitling's interest to make it as easy as possible to register.

Based on my experience with the service center in Dubai that price could very well be correct.

Dial change for an Emergency shouldn't be too expensive as there are no sub-dials/hands to change in addition to the main dial. Better to have this done when a service is due as the watch needs to be stripped down anyway to facilitate the dial change, which should keep the cost down.

BUSA should have the details of the last registered owner.

4 weeks may be a possible turn round for the Emergency it being a quartz movement watch. I had a B-1 fully serviced over a 4 week window. The B01 would take longer being a mechanical movement.

Update, now have the watch in hand but not on the wrist! Service options.

Dubai quote $340 for dial colour change if done at the same time as service.
Grenchen quote $ 500 for dial colour change if done during service.
Hong Kong, waiting on price.

In your experiences, would the workmanship in Dubai be of the same standard and quality as done by the main service center in Switzerland?
