Ok before I hit the gym and go out for the night I was thinking it could be a great thread if we all share incidents where our Breitling has exceeded expectations in rough conditions.

Backstory and pictures of beautiful locale and women are welcome.

I just came back from visiting a water park. My Crosswind Special with only 100m water resistance did just fine! :)

I'd say Bear Gryll's emergency has held up pretty well considering it only has 30m WR! Watching Man vs Wild you seem him parachuting into the ocean, swimming across rivers, diving to spear fish, and jumping off waterfalls into rivers all with his Emergency strapped to his wrist.

Wore my Chronomat 01 LE to Switzerland, Paris, Belgium and Amsterdam where temperature varied between 10 to 0 degrees, then went straight to Dubai where temperature shot to 33 degrees and the watch performed at optimal as usual:)

45 degrees C here on Friday, and my watches didn't seem to have any issues :-)

In the last two weeks my Chronomat 01 LE endured temperatures ranging from +40C in Perth Western Australia down to -28C in Harbin North of China.
Did not miss a beat.

My Navitimer World stands up very well to the occasional Reception and Wedding!

As you would all know, Cocktail Parties can get pretty intense between the canopies and the Bollinger and my Breitling performs admirably. Not so sure about the Rots of Canards Ruddy though, but thats to be expected. :)

I have issues with both my Chronomat 01 and Navi 01, so I'm a little skeptical as to the "strength" of Breitlings.

Mechanical or quartz is of course a central issue here. Since the wisdom on here is that it would be unwise even to play golf with a mechanical Breitling on, I don't think any mechanical can really be described as excelling in 'rough conditions', just by their nature; tho I guess the hope is that within that category lings are tougher than other mechanicals.

The issue with golf is the potential for extremely high g forces - particularly if you miss the ball and hit the ground!

The vast majority of rough situations won't involve anything like the g forces involved in that scenario.

My Breitling once sat through a flight from New York to Prague with a screaming baby behind us. The watch was functioning perfectly when we arrived, the same cannot be said for myself and my wife...

"The King" is certainly worthy of it's title :superman: Love for this watch is getting stronger day by day.

I would like to sadly announce that I recently started observing the Rolex Perpetual Datejust that I bought for my wife last mth and found the time losing at 10 Sec per day. To be fair I will send it in for a check and compare it with my Chronomat 01 LE a few weeks after getting it back.

Interesting my Steelfish less than a year old at the time was dropped on its crown and immediately went out of COSC specs and required a complete teardown to bring back into specs. My old Rolex GMT1675 bought in 1975 has been through much worse to include a hard parachute landing that knocked the GMT hand off by 1.5 hours never has been more than +3 seconds.

@nyc that is a beautiful crosswind and good to know it did fine. It seems like those watches are built beyond normal 100m watches.

I've had a Colt Auto 2 Since I was a freshmen at college and that thing is a great. It handled every situation I threw at it including countless rounds of golf, spring breaks, offroading, outdoorsman stuff, drunken nights in the carribean & europe, boating... I've never had it serviced, the AR is perfect & it keeps time at -4s always. (l have found using the last row of the micro adjustment has seemed to improve the finish of my watches so the sharp bands don't scratch the rest of your watch if its in a less than ideal travel situation.) I don't want to brag -- I was hoping this sort of story was the normal. Should I set a lower bar for my 7750 chronomat?

@dr j thats right, and I've seen that in Destination Truth which is about the only thing they've proved lol. Seriously why doesn't that dude do more EVP sessions?

My Aerospace has withstood a middle seat in coach on a Delta 757.
