Recently I purchased a Navitimer with the B01 Movement and I had a few questions regarding the chronograph. I've noticed that if I stop the chronograph right before the second hand reaches 60 seconds (i.e. :59.6 or :59.8) and than start it again, the minute totalizer doesn't advance to the next minute when the second hand passes 60. My questions are as follows:

1. Is this normal for this movement, and for chronographs in general? The only other chronograph I've had was a modular ETA 2892 and its minute totalizer didn't move discretely, it moved continuously with the second hand. So I'm a little unfamiliar with this.

2. If it is normal, I was wondering why it is that way. It seems like the second hand and minute totalizer should be be linked and I don't really understand why disengaging and the reengaging the chronograph at certain times would interfere with that linkage.

3. Does doing this harm the movement? It seems like if a chronograph is designed so that the minute totalizer is suppose to advance when the second hand crosses the 60, than operating it in a way that doesn't do this could be bad for the movement.

That doesn't sound right to me. The minute totalizer should advance. I don't own a Breitling with a B01 movement though, so can't check for you.

It's an issue, and not an uncommon one for issues with the chrono minute totaliser (although this specific issue is new on me).

I have B01 and I am sure that yr issue is not normal and should send in your Navitimer 01 for a check. Rightfully at 59.6s the min totalizer should start advancing to the next min. No what u did does not harm the movement, B01 is not that weak....However the 01 Calibre is still rather new in the market no doubt that it has been launched for 3 years plus, so far I have come across many who faced issues with the movement soon after they bought it. I was one of them although the issue was small(10 sec gain per day sometimes). Roff advised me to send in for a check which I did. After getting back my watch everything has been perfect. I did not face any issues with the chronograph though but I believe that your case is a small issue and would be fine after sending in for service. I am still a fan of the in-house movement! Do check yr watch thoroughly especially after getting it back from the service centre because I have heard of cases where customers send in their watch for certain issues but end up faced other issues with the watch after the servicing. You have got 5 years to make yr watch perfect so you should have more than ample time to do that...Lol...

Can someone with a B01 movement actually check this for the OP and actually try it on their watch to see if the minute totalizer advances or not? I'm sure it would be helpful to the OP.

The minute totaliser begins to advance at around 56 seconds and snaps into place on the hour regardless of when it is stopped / restarted. It wouldn't be much good as a chronograph if it didn't!

OK, I tried it on my Chronomat at 57s, 58s and around 59s.
Everytime I restarted, the minutes totaliser clicked on to the next minute.
That's about as close as I can get with my aging reflexes.
I will try it on my Navi 01 and the TOC 01 when I get back to Beijing on Friday.

I just checked mine and it works as advertised. The minute gradualy gets closer to the minute mark and no matter when stopped it jumps right the the proper time hack.

I get the same results with my B01.
