Thought i'd start my own thread,as i am new to this forum stuff and

don't want to piggy-back off others' threads.

I purchased 2 of the Emergency models on a whim and may decide to peddle 1,as i'll never really wear either

and figure its' best for financial sanity, to sell the one w/the longer warranty still w/ it,but i digress..

I spoke to a dealer today, who informed me that these models are in fact obsolete

w/regards to its' homing device and that the military and emergency services no longer use the frequency

in which is needed to locate a person, shall the need arise.

This dealer informed me that Breiling is coming out w/ a brand new Emergency model soon and that it would

be compatable w/ the new frequencys needed to make the watch a usefull rescue tool.

I'm rather confused as to the

weather these emergency models and their set frequencies,do in fact have a rescue function if needed,or if they are simply obselete

and useless in the event a owner is needing rescue.

I'm not sure if his info was correct,or,just a spoonful of crap to get us to wait and buy a couple new ones from them, when and if they come out.

Any imput??

The Emergency and Emergency Mission models are discontinued by Breitling, but not obsolete. There are many threads on this, and a lot of information on 121.5MHz monitoring on the web, but the only change is that there is no longer satellite monitoring of the 121.5MHz frequency, a largely irrelevant fact for Emergency owners because unless the situation is perfect the signal wouldn't be strong enough to be monitored by satellites anyway. Aircraft and rescue services continue to monitor 121.5 so the watch is just as useful as the day that it was launched.

In terms of a new version, there is a 406MHz version coming, but no confirmation of when - may be this year, at this point I suspect that 2014 is more likely. However, you could argue that even then 121.5 is more useful in a real emergency as it is easier to pinpoint the source of the signal with 121.5 than with 406.

Sir,whatever they are paying you here,is not enough..

Again,i believe the person i spoke to was more interested in selling me something none of us want,
versus give out information on a watch he isn't selling, nor has in stock any longer.

I'd suspect he didn't give this same info to the buyer who took the watch we called on,which was apparently sold yesterday.

Thank you for the information and for sending it lightening fast, once again, very impressive and equally impressive place
you got going on here..seriously..
