Post subject:  breitling loose bezel? normal?

hey all,

got one other question for you all... i was playing around with the bezel of my breitling motor t and noticed that it seemed to be a little loose. is it possible to tighten it or is that how it is supposed to be.... its not loose like its going to fall off just feels loose when you move it. is that normal? is it supposed to move clockwise or counterclockwise with VERY LITTLE ease?

sorry this is my first breitling and just wanted to know if this was normal.

thanks again for all your help... any by the way the motor t with the rubber strap looks AMAZING.

james.

Yes, the Bentley bezel is designed to rotate pretty easily, so as long as it isn't so loose that it spins round just by moving your wrist or something, then it is probably OK. However, if you find it really is too loose, then it will be a trip to your AD, but it's actually designed to move smoothly anyway.

Additionally there is usually a little "play" in the bezel of the Bentley models as they rotate using a gearing system, and not a simple "friction fit" (for want of a better word) like on the Navitimer models, or the "ratcheted" sprung bezel like on the Aeromarine models.

If found the same play in the B-1 bezel that I very briefly owned, and that's because it works on the same principal as the Bentleys.

As long as it's not exceptionally loose there's no problem. If it moves half a mm or so in either direction before the inner bezel starts to move then that's quite normal.

perfect. yes it only moves about a mm in either direction nothing more than that. just wanted to know if it was normal as this is the first Breitling let alone Breitling Bentley i have ever owned.

pretty random question... is the motor t waterproof at all?

thanks again,

james.

Yep, it's water resistant to 100M, so that means you can swim in it (if you really wanted to).

Yes,

My Bentley Diamond bezel as well as the stock bezel has some "Play" in it when you rotate it but it rotates very easily and smoothly. I was able to change the stock bezel for the Diamond bezel on my SA but the Bentley I had to bring to my TECH to change and it works perfectly.

I have a similar problem with my Skyracer even though it's only 2 months old, is this normal too. Just half a mill either direction.

Anyone, anyone, Bueler...

Yep, the Skyracer (and the Airwolf, and the B-1, and the B-2) all have the same pinion gear mechanism as the Bentleys - hence why the offer greater water resistance than the more traditionally styled Navitimer range.

All perfectly normal.
