Hello. New guy here. Have always for some reason loved high end watches so am looking at a used emergency superquartz.A few questions. 1) Changing the battery. Do i have to send it away to a breitling rep or can a regular watch jeweller replace the battery.(watch movement battery). 2)The watch has the original registration but box and manuals have been lost. What is the watch worth minus box and manuals?The watch is in excellent condition. 3)Transmitter battery. Does it need to be reserviced every 2 years and if so what is the cost.Canadian $,s. 4) There is no transmitter tester. Can one be purchased anywhere? I will attach some pictures because i am not a pro and would like some verification on authenticity. I appreciate your help. Will provide pictures as soon as i can load em up.

I've never seen the testers sold separately, but it's possible - otherwise Breitling may be able to supply. I believe that the recommendation on the battery is that both transmitter and movement batteries are changed at the same time. I would always send it through Breitling for a servicing / battery replacement because that way you will get the proper servicing, not just a new battery. Don't know about cost, sorry - but a Canadian AD may be able to give you a ballpark number - generally quartz service runs to about $250 - $300 but bet on a bit more with the transmitter battery as well.

I believe that both batteries on the Emergency are accessed through the front of the watch (requiring the movement to be removed), so I would heartily recommend that it's an Breitling Service Centre job only.

First of all you can replace the transmitter battery but it's not recommended. You can do it through the back of the watch. The movement battery requires removal of the movement from the front of the watch and without the right tools it would not be easy. If you send the watch to Breitling expect to pay $500 for the service. It's quite expensive for a battery change. You may be in luck if the watch is on it's first service as I had heard that the first service is free of charge. You can call Breitling to verify that, I could be mistaken. I would just watch e-bay and find the test box or I am sure that Breitling would be happy to sell you a new one $$$.

Yes. Your right about the first service being free of charge. I called a rep today and that is indeed the case. I appreciate all the replies. Thank you.
