Haven't watched the video because I am very familiar with that idiot - he has been banned from this site incidentally. If it is anything like his usual videos then a NSFW warning is probably appropriate (edit I see that you added that). The guy is an imbecile and his opinions are completely irrelevant to me, but from my perspective any watch that costs over a certain point is by definition a luxury - it's hardly a necessity. |

I don't think there is such thing as a 'true luxury watch'...that's really subjective. At the risk of being called a Breitling fanboy... -His assumption that all Breitlings are 7750 based is wrong...to my understanding only a few have that (robust) base today. -To my understanding, quantity-wise, most Breitlings are ETA movement-based (and use the highest grade only). -He also fails to mention that Breitling produced one of the first in-house movements made in years (and was one of the first independent companies to make a new movement from scratch in how long???). -The ETA movements they use are widely considered to be among the most reliable of automatic movements...many makers use them as their base movement. -The movements they use contains many parts made in-house or exclusively for Breitling, and so it isn't the same as a normal ETA movement you can buy through a retailer. -Breitlings are all COSC certified. Personally, Mark Kelly's testament to Breitling's quality says a lot more to me than this dude who seems to have some sort of personal vendetta against the brand. Of course the above is just my personal opinion. |

If that's a reference to the B01 then many companies have been producing in house movements for a very long time and in the last decade or so virtually all major players have developed them. Breitling was actually relatively late to the party. |

Arent most of the current in-house movements used by other independent watch makers somewhat older design-wise and based off of their previous designs? Thats how it was explained to me by a salesperson...but if not, then I was wrong with that statement, but you get my point. He failed to consider the contextual information in his argument. |

Most manufactures (companies with in house movements) introduce new versions every year. Many are based on a platform of an existing design - like B04 built on B01, but there are also a lot of completely new designs introduced each year. |

That guy is funny to hear. He is an idiot but he is very comical and convincing about his expertise. The way he talk is funny as well. BUT, he is not to be taken seriously, although he does believe himself to be an expert. What’s a luxury watch anyhow? How do you define one? Those questions are very vague. Buy what you like and what makes you smile. Don’t worry about Archie. |

I am not impressed with Mr know it alls pick of furniture, luggage or car. For a man who knows everything About luxury he should be driving a ROLLS! He claims he has had Breitlings but does he have the vintage collection Fred has . I see he is copying Fred's blue and white shirt. Both Fred and Roff are far more qualified on what a luxury wAtch is than this jerk. I would like to know who sponsors him and firmly believes he is an expert on everything. People who know everything like this jerk are dangerous and do more harm than good! I honestly believe he has ulterior motives or is being paid by a competitor watch company who lives in the shadows of Breitling to put them down. Enough said!!!! |
