I just got my Blackbird back about two weeks earlier than expected. I sent them a laundry list of my neurotic nitpicks and they fixed every one of them. The watch looks great...and they even redid the serial number for me, which was faded from the last service with polishing. When I say redid, I mean like it appears they replaced the entire caseback and made a new one using my existing SN!!!! While I still think their policy of not returning old parts is a bit strange, my interaction with the people and the quality of the service has been top notch. The fact that they had the consideration to set the date and time and even adjust the bracelet's quick adjust to where I wear it at has left me tickled. Absolutely awesome as can be IMO. Had to share!

Wow, I'm impressed especially with the serial number reprint.
Is this something that Breitling normally does provided an original and properly filled warranty can be presented with the watch?
Something I would like to do as the serial on one of my watches is very, very faint.

I honestly have no idea...the watch wasn't within warranty. I paid for a full overhaul and I just wrote in the letter the SN was very hard to see from the last service and asked they be careful not to completely remove it. The numbers on it now are slightly lower alignment-wise, which made me believe they replaced the whole caseback. Looking at it this morning, I realized that it is NOT a laser engraving...it is a hard engraving directly into the metal, which is at least 10x more awesome, so I think they removed the faded laser engraving and redid it with a hard engraver. Either way, they did an absolutely awesome job. The watch looks brand new, all bevel lines are still sharp and not worn down from a buffer wheel, the brushing is straight as an arrow, and the SN thing really bothered me, so they really went above and beyond and I feel even though the service wasn't cheap that I got a lot of value for my money. I figure the forum gets more of the horror stories than happy ones given people are usually more vocal when unhappy, so I figured I'd voice my experience!

These are the stories we rarely read, but clearly are the norm. Glad it went well.

Thanks! :)

I have to assume that most stories like this are the norm. The professionalism of the staff and smooth nature of the process is something you can tell they are very, very good at, and you can tell the process has been refined through a period of many years. Also, interacting with the staff has been an absolute pleasure and that always makes the experience 100 times better. A killer watch is one thing, but having people who stand behind it is another and the latter is what gives me confidence in a brand. I'm sure there are anomalies in service like with every other company to have existed, but for me, every interaction I have had with service has been as good as possible and I personally (for whatever it may be worth!) recommend BUSA 100%.
