Hey guys, I switch from watch to watch each day sometimes I dont wear my other Breitlings for a couple days and they are mostly automatic. I noticed that they lose time and date, I dont use a self winder while not in use. Is this normal? obviously its not being wound while not in use, but that fast? |

Most mechnical watches (e.g. Breitling self-winding/automatic models) have a "power reserve" of about 40 hours after being fully wound. This is the maximum time they will keep "ticking" without movement sufficient to wind the watch. There is no real way (that I know of) of knowing if a self-winding watch is fully wound or not so expect your watch to stop in less than 40 hours after you take it off. Hope this helps |

Because I take my watch off when I get home from work, even though I wear it daily I usually wind it up once every week just so the 'power reserve' doesn't dwindle down slowly over time and I wake up one morning having to set it again (I'm so anal about making sure all the hands match up perfectly at :00 seconds, setting my watch takes a good 5 minutes to make sure it's right). |

Yes, it is normal and as Africoz have said, you can expect it to keep ticking for maximum (approximately) 40 hours when you take it off - provided it was fully wound when you left it. If not, it will of course not have the full power reserve. Also, if you leave it with the chronograph running, that will shorten the power reserve. |

Nothing strange about that - how else would you set a watch with a COSC certification? It's the same as the bezel/slide rule lining up. Has to be done! Does anyone else (without a screw down crown of course) line up the "B" on the crown after winding/adjustment/all the time? Silly question really - of course you do

I would leave mine on, but it kinda hurts when I sleep with my wrist under my head...not to mention the alarming number of times I manage to whack my bead frame. |
