I had a 50th birthday back in June and my friends all contributed to a Pete's 50th watch fund :D

With that money I have been looking around for a black dial Colt auto without much success.
A dealer here in Melbourne had one at less than a year old in mint condition without box and papers so I was a bit reluctant to buy it. He also moved only marginally on his initial asking price.
Last Sunday my eldest daughter had a singing gig at a local cafe where most of our friends turned up for a Xmas catch up.
Everyone kept asking me where my new watch was
When I told them the story and that I was only looking for another $ 250 off the price , they told me to stop being such a tight arse just go and buy it. The spooky thing is , the price at $ 2100 is exactly what they had contributed
I am glad they did and here it is.
The box and papers thing doesn't bother me as this is a lifetime holding for me :)

Any special tips on care and maintenance.
This is the info I have so far.
1. Don't change the date between 10.00pm and 2.00am
2. Make sure the crown is completely and tightly wound back in after making adjustments.
3. Once a month give the band a bit of a wash out with a soft toothbrush and dishwashing liquid. I ( am guessing that dirt and grit wear out links)
4. Check if time is gained or lost against say a mobile phone clock.

Any ways I am one very happy Breitling owner

Well a few corrections.....

#1 - 8pm and 3am
#2 - not too tight

Other than that relax and enjoy it.

Thanks Roff
Also, I like the band firm on my wrist but don't want to stretch it.
Is there a rough measure to test if it's too firm.

Yeah, if it hurts

I don't think that you are going to have it tight enough to be a practical issue.

you'll know if it's too tight when you can no longer feel your hand... or as roff said, if it hurts. i would think your wrist would give before any stretching of the ss bracelet or leather strap occurs.

welcome to the forum and enjoy the watch!
