Post subject:  Trading out bracelet/strap because of the weight differences

I am new on this forum. I purchased an Aerospace Chrono back in 2006 (best i can tell has titanium II bracelet) and while on a trip to Switzerland got the itch to purchase a new Breitling. So after doing some homework, I decided on the Galactic Chrono II with the pilot bracelet. I have a narrow wrist so after i purchased my Aerospace, I had some links removed (saved them of course). One of my concerns with the Galactic Chrono II (which I will receive end of the week) is the weight --especially with the steel bracelet. So I am wondering if I should take my Aerospace titanium band and use that on the new watch?... Should i try the steel for a bit (or course would need it adjusted) or should I purchase a leather strap? How much of a weight difference will their be with the leather/or titanium band vs the steel. Has anyone had any experience using the titanium band with a steel watch? I have 30 days to return or exchange the watch if i do not use it. I guess I did not appreciate how much these weighed. I have been so used to the light Aerospace. Maybe i will just need an adjustment period. Any words of wisdom here would be helpful although i realize that some of this is personal taste.

The reason i went with the Galactic Chrono II is that over time-- I am on the borderline wearing reading classes and I do not want to use my glasses to see the smaller dials on the watch.

The bracelets aren't interchangeable, the end links are unique for each model. You can put a strap on it and it will be lighter than steel - try them on and see. However, I think that you will quickly adjust to the difference in weight and after a week or so you won't notice.

Thanks for that clarification. I guess that makes the possible choices much simpler. If anyone has any comment on weight differences of leather vs steel and how easy it will be to change from Aerospace to heavier thicker watch--- would appreciate it.

It's all in perspective, I'd have a hard time switching to an aerospace as to me, that would be exceptionally light. As Roff said, just takes some adjusting to.

I think Roff's right. For the first day or so a watch with a bracelet feels a little heavy. In no time at all you don't notice. I'd just persist for a little while and see if that holds true for you.

It's normal to feel the watch is stupidly heavy and question it. As others have said, you quickly adjust. I tend to switch out the metal Pilot band with shark straps pretty often, but if I am not wearing my watch at all, I will sometimes move my left hand a little faster than I intended

The human body is an impressive thing.

I really appreciate all the comments. It seems like others have had similar adjustment periods.. I will let you know what happens.. :)

Do you wear your watch looser or tighter? I used to wear my watches loose enough that they had well over 6 inches of travel on my wrist...but my Superocean Steelfish beat my wrist up pretty well from doing that so I now wear them so they do not move and you can get about one finger between the band and your wrist, and I personally find this to really help offset the weight. (I'm sure there are people who feel the same way except the polar opposite so that's just my personal experience).

Heh...and if I don't have my contacts in, I couldn't make out the time on Big Ben.

Nick.. The problem with my eyes is I am on the border of reading glasses so most of the time i dont have them on me.. :). So dim restaurants are a problem...
I just measured and i can get one finger between my band and the wrist right now. I do not think i could handle wearing it loose. It is loose enough to breath but not slide... So sounds like in the same boat.

I thought the Pilot bracelet on my Galactic 41 was just too light/thin. I much preferred the Pro II bracelet. I sold the Pilot bracelet for near what I paid for it (a year prior) as brand new, since I never once wore it. I then purchased a second-hand, great condition Pro II polished and modified the end links.

My point being: if I thought the Pilot bracelet was too lightweight, you'll have no problem adjusting to the added weight of that versus titanium. It's heavier, that's for sure, but not by much.

The above is strictly my opinion based on my experience, your mileage may/will vary.
