so I just noticed that my motors T has a movement flaw where the minute hand "jumps" forward slightly when the chronograph is activated. upon further research I read many other people describe this in responses to to Breitling Source Motors review in the blow. Apparently it's a flaw inherent to all of the Bentley line. I'm quite shocked as I'm thinking this shouldn't be acceptable for such a prestigious brand.. any thoughts?

It does that very slightly on my Motors too. Personally it doesn't bother me. I rarely use the chronograph for timing events that require super accuracy and if I did I'd probably use a digital stopwatch anyway. Yes it's not ideal as we want everything to be absolutely 100% perfect, but as it's not a problem inherant to just mine, I'm not bothered.

It's a design flaw that has been around for a while - I think it's only Motors / Motors T though rather than the whole line as it's a movement issue.

I agree that Breitling should address it, my guess is that it's something that isn't that easy to address, and is likely more pronounced on these models due to the 30 second chronograph - which would magnify any slight movement.

yes i guess so. unfortunately i do use the chronograph on a daily basis in medicine (timing drug effect etc) so it's slightly annoying to discover this. i just would have thought that they would have picked this up in their quality control (after watching the maintenance video one would think you have extremely high standards)

Yes, but it's not a production issue, therefore not a QC issue.

As I understand it, it's a design flaw - therefore it is performing as designed.

Seems like this "symptom" is not only exprienced in the Bentley models, my skyracer has this "symptom" too.

I went to the extent to check with Brietling and they told me it is not a defect or technical problem, and they wrote me a email detailing why this happens.

Well they also wrote affirming the performance is well within BREITLING's high standards....

I just checked my Blackbird and same thing, the minute hand jumps. I guess I was just under the impression that they had higher standards in terms of accuracy...

As the above post indicated, the Skyracer does this too. It has never troubled me because I knew it to be characteristic of the movemement before I bought mine. While the minute hand may jump a bit, it will not actually advance inappropriately with repeated use of the chrono. In other words, there is a window of sorts that it will not advance beyond. So you will not have to reset the minute hand after repeated uses of the chrono - the actual change in time should be relatively insignificant. However, keeping the second hand in sync with the minute hand will prove near impossible if you use the chrono a lot as I do.

These little glitches with auto movements are part of what makes quartz so attractive.

Or you can turn it the other way around - these "glitches" is what's making the auto "alive", and not a quartz robot...

My Motors does it too and it doesn't bother me,

I mainly use the chronograph for Grilling steaks and other meats. For example, if I have some 1 1/2 inch thick tenderloins they need 5 minutes on each side. The minute hand jumps a bit but my steaks come out perfect.

I last used the chrono on my SA to measure the time between contractions when the second daughter finally arrived Saturday afternoon...
