I saw another Breitling LE blinker on a preowned website, its a Chronomat Evo in solid 18KYG for PAN Frecce Tricolori.

50PCs only. The link below.

I guessed there was one as there were Steel and TT versions, but left it out when I put the Frecce Tricoloris in my first list as I wasn't sure - good catch!

Original owner paid $58k

Its $58k in Singapore dollars, during 2007 the exchange rate was about 1.6. So it could be about US$38k, but I have no clue what forex rates they are using.

The last I saw before it was on hold it was going pre-owned at about S$30+k. Imagine how much the owner lost in a year......

How about Navitimer 1461/52 Semi-Perpetual Calendar? I think its a LE too with 1,000 pcs made and its one of the few Breitlings with tritium markers.

Link to a pre-owned is here

There is a Land Rover version, but I'm not sure it's an LE based on our definition of having to be xx/xxx. I think it's a non-numbered special edition - even though it probably was produced in a fixed number.

Great thread and great work Roff! Here's one I've not seen in the list and definitely one of my favourites, the Old Navitimer Mecanique. One of the very few watches Breitling have sold with a display back. They were available in the early 1990s.

A11021 Old Navitimer Mecanique "Patrouille de France" (1000)

Not sure where these were sold.

A11022 Old Navitimer Mecanique (400) Japan only
K11022 Old Navitimer Mecanique (100) Japan only

White face/white sub-dials and black face/black sub-dials. Don't know numbers split.

There is one currently for sale on Japanese auction site with a starting price of 1.2m Yen, around £6000.

I wrote to Breitling a couple of years ago in reference to what I thought was a limited edition Tornado F3 Aerospace I had. It had no engraved xx/xx numbers on it. I was kindly informed it wasn't a limited edition but a special edition. Prior to that I thought limited production logo Breitling's were all limited edition. That Tornado watch was only made for so many squadron personnel so it was limited in production but technically not a limited editon? I also had an Aerospace USAF Heritage Flight model also with no xx/xx numbers on it but was told by Breitling that they made 52 of them so it was a limited edition. ??? My Chronomat Baltimore Ravens 91/100 is a limited production (I think) and has it engraved on the back as such. This still confuses me.

I've done a fair bit of research on this, but it isn't easy to get a definitive answer. As best I can tell there are two scenarios that Breitling refers to as LEs:

- The ones that have numbers on the back, that's the obvious one
- Single production runs - that is special editions that are only designed to be produced as a one off, so in Paul's example the production run of 52 for the USAF Heritage Flight

This second one is confusing, the reason that the Tornado example didn't qualify is because there were likely x produced initially, but then a further y could be produced to reflect changes in squadron personnel

The underlining is what I understand to be the differentiator - watches don't stop being limited and start being special with a second production run, when the watch run is commissioned it's established whether it will be limited or special.

I'm not 100% convinced that's right, just the best that I have been able to find out.
