Hi

The date change on my Crosswind occurs at exactly 5 am every day. I was chatting with a freind and fellow Breitling owner yesterday and he says this is not correct (which would make sense). As far as I know it has always done this and hasnt been a problem as I rarely get up before 5 am :)

Any body else have the same or should I get it looked at?

If it’s a watch that’s new to you and it’s never been worked on before, then IMHO, I woudl say it’s a factory assembly issue. Or, with pre delivery at your AD (assuming they have made adjustments in the process). If it has been repaired or adjusted for any reason (and lets say the hands removed), then I would suggest its sloppy attention to the reassembly process. Given that nothing else could be a problem and the watch works fine (as oyu say), then its more than likely the hands have not been set to 12 o clock (or just a little after) when the date wheel ticks over to a new date.

I was carrying out the very same operation on a new watch today and is one for the last things to do when setting hands and before assembling the movement in the case. Assuming there is no other adjustment available (digital models) then it’s a matter of removing the hands, moving the date wheel on until it does its thing, then resetting the hands for 12 o clock and pressing them on at that tick over point. A few minutes after is not a real issue, so there is plenty of latitude.

I once had a watch that did its thing at 3 o clock. No problem really as I was not usually awake at that time either, but I must admit, it was a bit odd none the less.
