If it is a68062 then it doesn't have a COSC, if it is a68362 then it does. There are versions of 68362 that do not have the chronometer indication on the dial.

Hi it's the A68362 so that fit's in with the sale, one thing is this the super-quartz movement or did that come in later. or was there a change over period from quartz to super-quartz......

the knowledge on this site is fantastic.

anybody got a price for this outfit.

Regards mark

If it's A68362, then as Roff said, it's chronometer rated, and in order for a quartz watch to be accurate enough to attain Quartz COSC rating, then it would have to SQ. So yes, it will have teh SQ movement. (Incidentally and just form info if you weren't aware - the "3" in the middle of the ref number denotes that it's chronometer/COSC rated. If it was a "0" then it wouldn't be).

Not quite......

a68362 is chronometer certified regular quartz. The updated a78362 is the SQ variant.

So it's COSC rated but not super-quartz, that's fine as COSC is good enough for me.

thanks all

Been looking around and they look to be going for around £1,100-£1,250, depending on B+P and strap/bracelet, so i am hoping i got a good deal, will post some pic's as soon as it arrives it may be in need of a tickle here and there, but i have a watch service guy (Breitling who can get her running like new).

cheers all.

All Breitlings from 2000 onward are COSC certified and has been mentioned the "3" in the middle of the model number denotes COSC certification.
An A68062 is a pre 2000 model and an A68362 is a 2000 onwards model. The "A" denotes stainless steel (E is Titanium and D is yellow gold etc.)the "68" is the Caliber number, in this case the non Superquartz 68 movement, the 3 as mentioned is the COSC identifier and the "62" are the model identifiers for the B-1 and B-2, (the B-2 being an A42362 COSC certified or A42062 non COSC) The 78 movement is the Superquartz movement for the B-1 usually denoted by the word "Chronometre" appearing on the face as in Chronometre B-1 or Chronometre Emergency The SQ Emergency has the 76 movement the non SQ Emergency being the 56 movement.) A stainless steel Superquartz B-1 would have the model number A78362.
HOWEVER, the limited edition Vulcan B-1 that I owned had the Chronometre B-1 inscription but it was a 68 non superquartz movement as seen here.

So don't always go by what is on the dial, check the model number.

Hi Findo-400,

Thanks for that information it's all becoming a bit clearer for me now, i noticed your B1 has the UTC with it, and a lovley watch it is. is there additional paperwork that comes from Breitling to support the UTC attachment with the watch.

I have not seen many B1's with the UTC attachment are they rare in that owners find that they are keeper's rather than selling them on, and are they more expensive with the UTC attchment.

Regards Mark

Hi Mark

Having owned 7 UTC's over the years, when it comes to selling a watch I used to keep the UTC's as we are talking hens teeth and the droppings from hobby-horses when it comes to picking one up. An A7O174 (which is what you need for a B-1/B-2/Crosswind/Headwind etc.) on a leather strap not a Fighter bracelet, went recently on a well known website for just over £400. I have seen one on a Fighter bracelet go for twice that price. The issue isnt the UTC, it's the end link on the A877 UTC bracelet (The full size Fighter bracelet for the B-1 and 2 is the A874) that is the rare beastie. If you can get hold of a B-1 with the UTC fitted, grab it with both hands. NOTE. You can't adapt the full size A874 to fit the UTC. You need the A877 kit to make it fit if you want a bracelet.

Also, if you can pick up a UTC on a Fighter bracelet and the UTC doesn't match the watch you have, still buy it. You can always have Breitling do a dial change. It'll cost you a full service plus the cost of the dial but it's worth it. I have done this many times.

If you're interested PM me re the Crosswind/Headwind data and I'll bore you some more

Good luck with the search Mark

Hi findo-400 my freind turned up today and left this for my inspection and he took my mark 1 70 200 2.8 is L lens to try, he wants a trade what do you think.

It was bought by his father from Goldsmiths Manchester in 2001, all the serial numbers match and all the paper work is there, it's been worn about 10 times and the battery replaced by breitling in 2011 for both watch and UTC he is finding the paperwork for this.

anyway some pictures

box is crisp and very slight wear to corners.

the inner box is bright and as new.

the paperwork has stickers attached.

,

The AR coating is unmarked, i was frightened the watch would need some TLC, but i am just as frightened it's turned up in this condition, this has been tucked away for 11 years i have never seen a finer B1 but B1+UTC.

it's like it's brand new. My photo's do not do it justice it's a lot better in the flesh.

opinions please, does the bracelet look right the link on the UTC side of the bracelet says S1799 according to my daughters eyes no stretch and brushed center link. .

do you think it's worth a trade of a £1000.00 lens

Regards Mark
