My wife claims that she periodically gets bonked by my World while sleeping. I continue to wear my watch at night as it seems to offer me some sort of twisted comfort - like a security blanket to an infant. What is it about this special object, a transitional object, that comforts me in such a soothing way? I am alone?

Nope, you are not alone. But I do rotate depending on my mood that night.. Some nights Submariner, others Datejust, others Cockpit, and some nights GMT44. Never a fan of favoritism. I think my wife has gotten used to it by now. :D

I wear 24-7 mainly because I would forget to put it on in the morning.

Years ago I used to wear a watch while sleeping. But I stopped doing so over time. It's just not very comfortable if the watch has a certain size. But of course I keep my watch on the nightstand, so I can always gloat over the luminous applications. :)

Used to wear one in bed but not any more. Have to have them close by though so that they can be polished and admired.

There have been threads on this before and it always amazes me how many people wear a watch while sleeping. I don't get it, but that's just me.

My wife said the dame thing...that it hit her head, so I don't wear it sleeping anymore.

Nope, not just you.

I find wearing "a watch" is sufficient at night, it doesn't have to be a specific watch.

My other half has confirmed that receiving an Avenger to the face at 3AM is undesireable, so Casio it is (and that tells me the time in the dark if need be)

I would never wear a watch to sleep because I don't see the point in wearing something expensive when I'm unconscious and the only thing that could possibly happen is a negative which is banging it on something in my sleep or in my half awake state after getting up.

That would suck if I walloped my wife in the head with my 1/2 pound super avenger, or knocked some teeth out. No watches for me while sleeping, they come off when I get in the door.

These watches have a lot of functions, but still...

Nope I don't wear mine to bed just can't bear the thought of scratching my precious w w w w wife of course  however if I'm away on my own I will wear it whilst sleeping, in fact thinking about it probably safer as well

I guess it comes down to how heavy the watch is, which side of the bed you sleep on (I am always on the left side since I wear my watch on my left hand and can avoid hitting anything or anyone :-) ), and general preference. I too feel comforted by wearing a watch to bed, but my Sub or Oyster Datejust seem to be most comfortable on the whole. Also, I like knowing what time it is since when I take my contacts out I can't see the blasted alarm clock!
