The bi color chronomat with a black dial and roman numerals looks especially cool with the rose gold bezel, crown and pushers.

That particular TT model is the best looking Chronomat out there IMHO.... especially on black Croco. If it was just a little bigger, that'd be the one I'd buy.

I'm a bit worried about size too, but I haven't tried it on yet (or any Chronomat for that matter), so I'll see how it looks when I visit my AD.

I see you already have an SA - I can guarantee you WILL notice the difference when you try the Chronomat. You may find it doesn't bother you in which case it's fine, but for me it's just a little too small to be ideal....... and as we all know, it's important to be 100% happy with any watch you buy. Croco is the way forward on this piece IMHO, but then I'm not a big fan of TT bracelets.

I actually like it on steel... all SS or bi-color.. so how wrong am I....


I've never owned a watch with any gold bits so.. here's a dumb question... how would it stand the test of time... would the red gold fade with time and need to be refinished in some way

TT is OK - I have a TT Legende, and the pilot bracelet is great, I just love the burgundy / brown combo for the Chronomat.

In terms of the gold - it's called rolled gold, whic is a laminated sheet of gold applied to the base metal. It's 20 microns thick - to put that in perspective, you could have it engraved without going through to the base metal, but only just.

The fact that it's a sheet, and the fact that it's much thicker than plating will pretty much eliminate the possibility of it 'wearing off' - at least for a good long time.

The gold certainly won't fade. The bezel is solid gold, so you'll have no problems there. How the crown and push-pieces are constructed is a bit more of a debate as, depending on who you speak to, they are either predominantly sold but fixed to a steel core, or predominantly steel, but with a rolled-gold covering. Either way, they are much thicker in terms of gold than gold plate, so should wear very well over time. VERY heavy use may wear the crown and push-pieces over a long period of time, but all that can be replaced by Breitling at a service anyway.
