Hello all, Glad I found this forum! Hope someone with knowledge can point me in the right direction. Just purchased a Chrono Cockpit (early edition) with Gold Bezel, and two-tone pilot bracelet from a friend and have a couple of issues: 1) I know the watch has little or no service (at least in recent history) and as such doesn't keep "perfect" time (loses about a mintue every two days +/-), also the watch doesn't seem to have the kind of reserve (42 hours) that it is designed to have, I only get about 12 to 18 hours tops. I have seen several online advertisements about Breitling service at quite reasonable prices ($250.00 +/-) is this a reasonable gamble or am I better off with other options. 2) My friend misplaced the link that he had removed from the bracelet and of course I find the watch too small even with the "fine" adjustment at it's max. It's really only a "little" too small but the extra link would definitely give me a lot more adjustment options. Any easy way to get additional adjustment without the link? Assuming not, is there any way to acquire an extra link for the bracelet? I have seen a couple of links advertised on Ebay, but none are the two-tone finish that mine has. Also, I am not sure what size the band on mine is, what is the proper way to measure this? There are no AD in Anchorage, AK and as such want to make sure that I send the watch to a respectable service person if neccessary. Other than these two issues, I am very pleased with the watch, and look forward to future purchases. Thanks in advance for any advice, Half |

Sounds like it's time for service. The watch should be within +/- 3-4 seconds per day. When you send your watch in, be sure to have all of you I's dotted and your T's crossed. Especially sending it to Breitling. You could be waiting as long as 90 days sending it to a Breitling service center! Good luck! ~Brian |

To measure the band.. use a ruler or tape measure. Your watch has a 19mm lug width... the movement in your watch is a pretty basic chronograph movement, any GOOD watchmaker should be able to service it properly. Taking it a Breitling AD could cost closer to $500. |

I wouldn't go with one of the web service centres - way too much risk for me to save a couple of hundred bucks. If you have no local AD then I suggest that you send the watch to BUSA - they should also be able to sort out the 'missing link'. There are also links on eBay fairly regularly, although usual warnings apply. |

The old Chrono Cockpit is not a chronometer. So You can for sure expect more than +/- 3-4 sec/day. But I would expect, that a good watchmaker can bring it below 10sec/day. Please send it to the official Breitling Service center, as the movement in this watch is very complicated to service. In fact, it is a normal movement with a chronograph modul. Most watchmakers start sweating, when they just see the movement. There is a situation, where You need at least 5 hands at the same time.... BG Thomas |

Oops, I thought this was an ETA-2894. Now looking closer it is a 2892 with a chrono module. Thomas, do you know who makes the module? Is it a DD? |
