Post subject:  My World is Running Fast
Hello. I did purchase my Navitimer World at the end of September as I posted earlier. but it has already gained 1 minute 46 seconds in 18 days. I this bad for this movement? My Omegas are so much more accurate than this, but then they have the new Co axial movements in them so its probably an unfair comparison. Your advice will be very helpful. Thanks

it would seem that its running a bit fast. im sure you can send it back to Breitling and they will gladly tweak it for you.

Running a bit fast yes, but not really 'tweakable' - it's still inside COSC specs (just) - +6 seconds a day times 18 days is 1:48. Additionally, if the watch is new then it is still settling so I would expect it to be running fast - if it's spot on now then it will likely be slow in a month or so.

If the watch lays on its back at night then try putting it on its side, crown up. That will help it to run a little slower.

Thanks for your helpful comments. The thing is with my watch its kept in a Rapport winder during the day, so its at full state of wind all the time I guess could this be the problem?.
Although as I said before My Omegas are kept in the same condition and they are fine. Would you return it for a replacement (or my money back I have 30 days to do this) ?
The thing is, I REALLY do like this watch but its not as good at timekeeping as I thought it would be. Thank you

It's performing within specifications, on what grounds could you ask for a refund / replacement???

If it's new it's going to take a while to settle, and it is already within COSC. There's not a problem.

I had the following experience with my World. I also bought it about 3 weeks ago. During the first 1.5 week the watch was within COSC specifications at +5'' per day. However, at one day after it went +20'' (!) and since then it was at +7''. I cosidered this to be an abnormal behaviour and took it back to AD for inspection - still waiting for it to come back. What I would suggest based on the above, it to follow your watche's behaviour on a daily basis, as opposed leaving it for a week or two and average out the how fast or slow it goes. This may show issues, that averaging may hide.

Well, I just had a talk with the Manager of Breitling service Department and found out some interesting things: my watch exhibits a +6.1'' behaviour. According to Breitling Service standards this is well within THEIR limits - since they accept 0'' to +8'' i.e. not the COSC certification limits. He told me that they do not accept a watch being in the "-" territory even one second, but they widen the + side by two seconds! Breitling considers this stricter and more appropriate (this is the word used) for their watches.
In a nutshell, I very much doubt that they even start considering replacing your watch.

Interesting that Breitling 'consider' that, but they 'certify' their watch to be COSC, whether they want to accept it or not!

Not until it has settled, it's new so will take a while to adjust to a regular routine.

If after that point it is outside of COSC specs then it's not performing at the rate that Breitling certify it to run at and you have every right to ask for (and receive) a regulation.

Thank you. As a sidenote however, I find interesting the point that Breitling do not respect COSC limits and sets its own. It would be interesting to cross verify by others inquiring on this issue to official Breitling Servicing centres.

...they did not refuse to regulate it, instead suggested to keep an eye on it for a while and if not happy then they will gladly regulate it. What I find strange is that official Breitling Service they accept the limits I quoted earlier. Oh well...
