limited editions or serie speciales.

There are a few display back models around. e.g. Transocean LE, Navi01 LE,Cosmo SS, Navi Mecanique to name a few.

The Trancocean Chrono comes with DB on all models.
From Breitling web site, TOC Technical Data:

"Back-Transparent sapphire crystal Crystal-Convex sapphire crystal, glareproofed on both side"

Don't ask me why the TOC is the only model with DB as default, maybe the ADs here will have more input on this when they chime in.

Can a person order a DB to fit their watch if they want?

Not an OEM one, but if you really want one you can get someone to do a custom one.

That said, the LE's that Breitling make have had their movements cleaned up especially for the DB models. Their standard movements won't look as good if you just add a custom DB. Also the resale value would drop.

A custom DB will render the watch non serviceable by Breitling - they'll either refuse or will insist on returning it to factory spec at owner's cost.

The movements inside solid casebacks are the same, there is no 'cleaning up'.
