Post subject:  Leaving the crown pulled out when storing watch

I have a number of watches that I rotate. All can be hacked (movement stops when the crown is pulled out). My past practice is just to put the watch to go out of rotation in "the vault" and take another and let the watch just run down. I was thinking why don't I pull out the winder and stop the watch and then it will be mostly wound when I go to wear it again. I believe this would be easier on the winding gears, etc. as you wouldn't have to wind it up again. Anyone do this or can think of a reason why this would not be good for the watch? Thanks

Not a good idea to store a watch with a tight mainspring, much better to store it fully wound down and then crown position is irrelevant.

I let mine run out entirely when storing for the reasons Roff pointed out.

Good to know Roff. I was thinking of the same thing but guess I wont. Not that I see myself exhanging it for much else as I like it so much and there is one thing or another wrong with all my other watches.
