Semi-finals will start later today, but before that gets going I wanted to check in with you guys on my thinking for the rest of the tournament.

I'm thinking that the final four should end up being listed 1 through 4 so what I would do is:

1) Regular voting for the semi-finals - 1 week head to head
2) Have a final and a 3rd / 4th play off with the two semi-final winners in hte final and the two semi-final losers in the 3rd / 4th match up.

I am also thinking that the 3rd / 4th match up could be a regular 1 week vote but that the final could be 2 weeks to give more time for votes. Not sure about that as voting does seem to tail off after the first few days.

What do you guys think?

A consolation game? I like it.

I also think the final four should be seeded, with the two higher vote-getters from the last round pitted against the two lower vote-getters, in a 1 vs. 4 and 2 vs. 3 scenario.

That would mean:

1) Chronomat 13352 (49 votes) vs. 4) Crosswind Special LE (36 votes)

and

2) Navitimer 01 (44 votes) vs. 3) Navitimer 1461 LE (2011) 19370 (41 votes)

I think that would be a good way to match it up, though it has been random draw throughout. But maybe a little tweaking at the final 4 stage is a good idea.

Roff and the rest, what do you think?

I'm not keen to be honest, simply because we had a community vote that ran for several days on the approach that should be taken and random won by a mile. I don't think that it's fair to change that at the last minute - although it's a fine idea for the 2013 version

I voted for random too, but in hindsight I think seeding would have been a better way to go, for the same reason it makes sense in sports tournaments, and should be considered if this poll is done again next year.

By the way, I wasn't suggesting seeding for the semi-finals to benefit a personal favorite. Since the 'Fish fell by the wayside, I don't have a horse in this race.

I say keep it random. It started random, so let's let it finish that way.

Semi-Finals are up:

Crosswind Special LE vs. Navitimer 1461 LE
Navitimer 01 vs. Chronomat 13352

viewforum.php?f=25

Still interested in thoughts on the length of time that the final should run for.

Noooooooooo. Leave it up for 3 weeks because that is how long it will take for me to choose between the Chronomat 13352 and Navi 01. My worst possible choice.

Edit - oh yeah, thanks for the effort again.

Edit again - to save myself the mental anguish :boohoo: , I chose to vote for the one most likely to knock off the Navi 1461, which I reckon will see the final round.

A week - the voting peters out before a week is up - Maybe next Sunday instead of Saturday?

And picture IDs for the final vote.

Oh man, choosing between the Navi 01 and 13352 is like trying to decide which arm to chop off,
the left or the right one :-(
Not that I own the 13352 but its darn close to the 13050s in my collection.
Looks like it could be all Navis final, bit boring.

I won't say how I voted but I am wearing the one I didn't vote for. Were I Jewish, I would be sitting shiva.

[i think I am getting far too vested in this forum project :)]

Done my voting but that was as pleasant as my visit to a dentist yesterday :-(
It's not heading my way.

I find it odd that an LE of 250 Crosswind made it this far. Not exactly one of Breitling's better creations IMO.
