Post subject:  Help identifing this watch
I received this watch about 25 years ago as a present. I wore it for many years then put it away and forgot about it. I'm trying to determine if I should have it fixed up or not and want to determine it's value. However I have been unable to determine the model. Can anyone identify the model? It has two different numbers on the back 80900 above the Breitling logo and 1502 below it. Thanks for the help

not fake at all, but a rare Breitling Maritime chronograph from the late 1980s, based on the Valjoux 7760, the manual wind version of the 7750.

some more info in bs model database here, though I'm unsure about the claimed production year 1987 as the Chrono Maritime already appears in the 1985 catalog on page 11 http://www.breitlingsource.com/books_1985.shtml

The pic is really not good enough to say anything about case and dial condition, but parts are readily available for the movement, so servicing or repairing would be easy - too rare to give you a realistic value, but typical asking prices are similar to the Old Navitimer, somewhere between 2k and 3k, though I have not seen actual sales at these figures

I only recognise it because of vintage's recent FS thread on his maritime.

Agree with Fred here...probably 2-3k with bracelet. Check ebay for a better estimate of prices. (There is one for sale there now)

Wow you guys are fast and accurate. That's the watch and it was purchased right around that time. Condition is rough I would say, I wore it every day and every where for 8 years. At least I know what it is now and I'll just have to determine if it is worth a restoration to me.

Well I checked the one out on eBay and it is in about the same condition as mine. The real difference is it has the rubber bracelet where mine has the black coated steel bracelet. I would assume the steel bracelet is worth a little more?? Even if it isn't $1500 isn't too bad considering the condition.

Those things are notorious for having significant wear to the black finish. That will be a huge determining factor when figuring out the value.

I think its a pretty sweet watch based on the links and pics posted. Very much in line with the modern offerings (specifically the size, not the color) but unique in that its 20+ years old (and made out of black aluminum).

If it was mine, I would send it in to Breitling, clean it and get it running properly, and tell them not to touch the case or bracelet (aside from the mentioned cleaning) and let the patina and wear show through.

Great looking watch!! It looks exactly as it should and should be appreciated for its service.

I think its important to understand (not saying you do not) that this watch is the type of watch that looks better with age and dings and dents. That's not to say that a NOS one would not look great.

This watch has a place and time, its not with a tuxedo, but it is on the weekend and casually around town.

You know after hearing what you had to say about it being a 25 year old watch worn just as it should and keeping it looking worn I think I have changed my mind. I like your idea of having it serviced but nothing externally replaced or repaired. After seeing a couple other examples of these watches I don't think mine is as bad as I thought. I took some better pictures to give you an idea of what it looks like. So I'm taking Breitling Fanatic's advice and leaving it as is but have Brietling service it.

Well for some reason I can't post a picture so I will just say thanks everyone.
