Hi Guys,
I am new here and would like to ask if you guys know anything about this new style Breitling box?
Image
I saw it on WoldofWatches site and have a little concern about their boxes.
I thought Breitling has a much nicer box than this.

Thanks a lot in advance

They USED to have much nicer boxes made of Bakelite..........until recently when they decided to cheapen eveything down and make it out of cardboard. Just another crass and bizarre decision by Breitling, which is indicative of many of their recent ideas.

I love my SOH boxes :) Not sure if the newest ones still come with the large bakelite box or not.

As has been discussed in several threads recently (and by Driver8 above), these boxes have replaced the Bakelite.

And the money they save on the cheap boxes goes towards hiring great designers for revamping lines like the Colt 44 sprinkler valve special! :D

Yes, that is the new, crappy box. Breitling must really take their customers for a bunch of idiots.

As much as I'm sorry to see the bakelite go (my wife has a new galactic 30 on the way :( ), I have always been frustrated that there has been no practical reason to revisit the box aside from the initial unpackaging. Is there anything I've missed here as i would love to have a practical reason to actually use it!

There is no practical use for the box. However, when it comes time to sell your watch, the presentation does matter, as most everyone wants to buy a preowned watch with box and papers. It cheapens the whole presentation of the watch when other brands have such nicer quality accessories that come with the watch itself. JMHO.

At least Breitlings don't have 15 twist-ties holding it in the cardboard box.

I'll admit that at first I was a defender of the new Breitling boxes. However, since experiencing boxes from Zenith and IWC, I have to admit that the Breitling box doesn't measure up. It is well made for what it is but what it is is substandard for watches in this price range.
