Post subject:  Brand New Aerospace with Dim Digital

Just bought a brand new Aerospace I just noticed that the Digital Digits seems to be much dimmer then when I saw them at the store.
I bought the watch a day and a half ago, wore it for a few hours and just looked at it again.
When I roll the crown to change the digital mode, the digits get brighter, then when the mode is selected, the digits dim.
In a normal lit room the digits are just about unreadable, they are so dim.
There is no way they looked like this in the store before I bought it.
I've seem some pictures and videos online and they look brighter.
Guess I'm taking it back to the store for an exchange unless someone has a answer for me on this.
BTW, this is my first post here.
Thanks

The digitals on the Aerospace Avantage (new style Aerospace) are quite a bit dimmer or less readable than the old Aerospace. I noticed this when comparing the two side by side, and reading other posts on the subject it seems 'normal'. I wonder if it has to do with the backlight which the Avantage has, whereas the old Aerospace doesn't.

And that may be the reason you see the display appear to get brighter when you change the function, as rotating the crown activates the backlight for about 6 seconds, after which the backlight goes out. Certainly in a poorly lit room it will brighten up the display, but the green colour backlighting is very subtle (unless you look at it in almost total darkness), presumably as it's NVG compatible and can't be too bright to overload NVG goggles.

My Avantage has a co-pilot module on the bracelet, and the display on that is much more like the old Aerospace and is quite a bit brighter that the main watch display, but I wonder when you looked at your watch at the AD, they probably had good clean lighting (the sort they often have in jewellers to make stuff sparkle and bling up) and when you. Are at home it's just normal everyday light indoors.... Try going to a brightly lit area and view them then ... Bear in mind that unless the backlight is on, the LCD's work on the reflective principal.

Thanks for the replays.
Well here is more to the story, I'm actually on vacation in the Virgin Islands, and bought the watch the other day on St Thomas, when I spoke to the store manager yesterday the only thing he said was lets swap it out. Nothing about it could be normal ect.
Since I'm on a different island then where the store is, the sales guy is taking a boat and meeting me today at the hotel to swap out the watch heads.
Now that's good costumer service.
They do have a store here in this island, but the Aerospace watches have been sitting for a while and the store on St Thomas moves them better, so he said.
But if the new one shows up with a dim display I might just return the watch if it's unreadable in normal outdoor use.
The only problem is which other model should I get, I have a pretty small wrist, and the size and weight of the watch is super for me.
Thanks
