Let's deal with the dial swap first and then lecture you ![]() You can get a dial swap at the time of a full service, but it's ridiculously expensive - reckon on $500+ on top of the service. Additionally, if you want to change the actual functions then forget it - Breitling simply won't do it. Now, servicing. Servicing intervals in a modern watch are dictated by the breakdown of the oils. Regardless of wear, usage, etc the oils will breakdown at a predictable rate and after around 7 years they will have fully broken down and be incapable of providing any lubrication. Then its just parts rubbing together causing friction and wear - a 12 hour power reserve suggests a lot of friction. If those watches were mine I wouldn't be running them / wearing them until they are serviced - there is no telling what damage is occurring inside the movements from the lack of lubrication. I can't comment on the merits of servicing in Japan vs. Europe, but may be worth a conversation with the Japanese service people - they'll want the business. Welcome to BreitlingSource! |

Welcome to BS! Fully agree with Roff. You have 2 beautiful pieces there and the last thing you want is to unknowingly cause more damage before they can get serviced due to the lack (or absence) of lubrication. Wouldn't hurt to have a chat with the service guys (also mentioned by Roff) for you to make an informed decision. You'll have to do some cost analysis on what options are available to you vs. what you are ready to spend for. |

Eek! Guess I am flying close to the limits. Credit to the watches though - they've only started to exhibit the reduced reserves in the past year or so. That's me off to Ginza tomorrow to see a man about a dog, I mean a overhaul. |

Just back from Studio Breitling - Tokyo. Whoa its expensive here! Anyway going for the least intrusive overhaul, ie. Blue Olympus gets the bracelet (the 1461 Jours did indeed have the wrong endlinks away) 1461 Jours get dark brown calf strap and deployant clasp. New crystal was quite reasonable but as the scratches are not so bad and considering the considerable bill anyway it can wait. 5-6 weeks wait and fingers crossed no long term damage as a result of late overhaul. Boy does my back up watch (Oris 7400b) look small on my wrist. |

Good news - both watches are in good health and showing no worn/problems issues in addition to overhaul. 6 weeks until they are ready. Can't wait. Also I did ask about dial colour swap. But was told they don't do that kind of thing at Breitling Japan! So I've now heard a myriad of official responses. Anyway I am happy to with the blue - I bought after all. |

Good on you mate! Also, nothing wrong with blue dials - they're not bad if you ask me. ![]() |
